HB Second Build. Non PBG kit. LP refurbishment

While I wait for my first build to cure, decided to refurbish the first guitar I built from kit. I got it from a music store in Queesldand via Ebay shop..I Wanted a Les Paul with glued in neck and this was below the $150 mark...My budget at the time.Got it last Christmas. PROS...It was cheap..The Neck came pre glued, which I thought it wouldnt, so that was a bonus...All the holes are pre drilled so in one way it is a easier build then PBG..CONS...Body is crap, see photos...3 peice body made from Paulwina...Neck 3 piece...So this can really only be a sprayed job which is fine...

Why refurb??? Well I was a total Noob...Didnt know what spray to use...Used both Enamel and Acyrlic!!!! Learnt that dont work...I rushed the curing and pretty much everytime I played it I got paint on me....So now after joining the Forum go to start again on this build.

Also I wont to play with the idea of splitting the coils and installing coil taps....I plan a Jem SV-1 build later in the year with vintage Jem wiring, so thi will be good practice...Also I will upgrade the wiring on this build to All parts.

Looks like you may have sanded through part of the binding in one of those shots around the body join? Any plans to fix or just sand it all off and solid colour all over?

Yeah the paint was soooo thick I used a Belt Sander with 40 grit!!!! It ate the wood, thete are a few divits but will fill in etc..So not sure I might just leave the binding, only a minor ding..

That end grain near the PUP selector switch section looks cool and gives it 'that something different' look as there are far too many same, same LP's already out here.

2nd time around usually come out better what are you going to put over the shoe polish that wont lift off, i'm with wazkelly its hard to get a unique on a les pauls just about every type of stain has been done to death, painting over wood has its challenges to get a professional looking job its not as easy as some may think
