I think we may have had this discussion before. The best you could probably hope for is the body shape. But we are pretty sure the factory won't be machined up for the short scale Mustang necks. (Which will almost certainly leave you with balance issues)

So the Mustang comes in 610mm and 572mm.
If you have a standard Fender 648mm fretboard and you cut off the 'first fret' you will end up with a 611.6mm fretboard....take of the second fret and you have a 577mm fretboard which is probably close enough.
