Hi everyone, been a while since I've been on here. Hope your all well and building lot's of kits during lockdown. I'm working full time building and repairing guitars these days, dream job for some of you I'm sure, but it does have its ups and downs.
Anyway on to this build. I need to have about 8 new guitars in stock to demo my own brand of pickups and was after something a bit different to throw into the mix, instead of just your usual Fender/ Gibson styles.
Saw that Adam had a MK-2 kit on sale as a factory second and thought it would make a good basis for a Moserite Ventures tribute guitar.
Out of the box I'm really impressed with the quality of the body and neck. Body is well routed and sanded and the neck is well fretted. It was a second as the factory drilled the first for inlay on the fretboad in the wrong position and then filled the fretboard, but this will all be changed so no sweat.
Specs for this build will be as follows:
Body to have a German Carve and routed for the neck pickup to be at the 'correct' angle.
Neck to be altered; re inlayed and fretboard to be angled at the pickup end. Top of headstock to be slightly more angled and reshaped aka Moserite style.
My own pickups in: a mini humbucker in the neck and a single coil size humbucker (14k) in the bridge, both tapped and with switching for out of faze.
Also a Moserite style tremelo to be installed.
Not sure on colour yet, I'll post some picks as we get started. Cheers Carl
