Hi all, starting my ST build; any paint tips?

Hi everybody jus received my ST kit, and settling in for the isolation by starting the new project. It’s my second build following a mostly successful LP build. This time around I want to go for spray painting, preferably a transparent with a burst....can anyone recommend a good spray paint brand that’s readily available in Perth stores? Last time I went the dingotone which was great, just trying something different.

    Welcome!

I don't know about transparent colour in a spray can, but I have been using Dupli-color on top of SCA filler-primer with good results so far. I plan to finish with SCA clear acrylic. All of which were recommended on this forum. This is for a solid body colour though, so not that useful for you. I mention it just in case, as all are readily available from SCA stores.

For the neck finish, I will be using Cabothane Satin Clear in a can. That or the gloss might work well over a compatible stain, but I can't give any advice about that, sorry. Once again, readily available from the Big Green Shed that shall remain nameless.

For much better advice, I suggest trawling through the build diaries. A lot of threads mention the finish materials and techniques along with photos of the results.

I used Taubmans White Knights acrylic spray. I found that you could get an even finish on it with about 3 coats but it stays a bit soft and needs a clear acrylic top coat. They may have something in the transparent range that would suit you - check out the Taubmans store in Morley.
