Thanks for the comments!
I had some issues with the bridge position and the intonation,
but I managed to fix it and now I think it's a pretty decent guitar,
really fun to play :)
Here is a demo:...
I consulted with a pro luthier, and I asked him about moving the neck instead of the bridge (actually I sent him a capture of your messege) and he thinks it could be done, I guess I'll give him to do...
Thanks, I'll try it!
Yes it seems logic to me, I wonder if someone actually did it.
I must say that I asked about the scale length before I ordered this kit because it was only my second build so I don't have much experience, anyway the answer I got was: "the scale length is spot...
I just finished my custom MBM1 kit a few days ago and noticed there are some serious intonation problems, I had to move the saddles all the way toward the neck and the intonation was still too flat...
I just finished my first PB kit.
alder body
maple neck
ebony fretboard
25.5" scale length
locking tuners
roller bridge + les trem tremolo system
bone nut
Iron gear pickups
500k pots +...
I didn't make a progress for a while, I worked on two other projects (finished another kit and built a treble booster). But today I finally polished and waxed the body. The finish is far from being...
14th coat. I think I will go for a satin finish, still need to figure out what is the best way to do it.

Thanks, that make sense. It's true that the TO bottle that I use is a few months old, it may be thicker.
So if I want to apply really thin coats what should I do differently? If I use pure TO I also get a lot of stroke marks. Do you suggest I'll sand it later?
Maybe I'll give it another try, in the worst case I'll sand it down.
How do you apply it BTW? I'm using old tshirts, don't know if this is the best method.
Thanks I'll try it.
I wonder if I can use it for fret polishing as I do with steel wool sometimes. My current method is P600-5000 grit sandpaper but sometime I use steel wool before, and I'm finishing it with metal...
Nice gloss! Thanks for the tips! The reason I'm thinning the tru oil is because it gets tacky really fast which result in a lot of stroke marks and dust specks that sticks to it, do you think I...
:D yeah, found these sold only in bulk
I just got the 3m scotch-brite, can go back to sanding now :)

I stained the covers with black dye, still have to sand them with 240 and I didn't decide if I should leave them black or dye them with matching color to the body.

Ok so I'm waiting for the 3m pads, I should get them in the next few days.
Thanks for the tip! Found a seller in my country that sells these 3m pads and sent an order. They are pretty expensive but if that means I don't have to search for those metal fibers (I use a magnet...
The current status of the finishing process is 8th coat of tru oil and I'm waiting a few days before I'll sand it with a 0000 steel wool and then applying more coats of tru oil. Something I didn't...
I bought some 3mm basswood sheets and I'm trying to make the covers for the cavities on the back of guitar, still don't have a fit, but I'm taking a break for now I'll come back to it later....
