Yeah I went back to 120 today and that seems to have done the trick,
I reapplied stain, and it took much much better today.
gonna do 1 or 2 more coats of stain and go from there

so today i tried to start staining the body, and it is exactly like you said. The stain definitely did not take very well or very evenly.

Then started sanding the body. Ive never done any sanding before, so was a little learning curve. Started...
Just got my Bass kit in the mail today.
excited to get started sanding tomorrow, planning to try and do a "ceruse" style finish on the guitar.
Going to use a blue dye, with black grain filler.
