Also mccreed, no list of ingredients on bottle. I think he's quite protective of it because he Had It formulated for himself as a version of tru oil I believe, could have misunderstood though
I applied the finishing oil first, around 6 coats, very thin, and then around 12 coats of the high build oil, and it came up very nice, then I let it cure for months, and now I wet sanded it and its...
I have tried, i must admit their customer service isn't the best for replies.
It is quite well dried, and wet sanded up nice, I just wanted to give it a buff to take out the swirl marks. From what...
It is stained with wood stain and oiled with oil from crimson guitars. Wasn't aware different finishes would affect which compound to use.
Hi all, I have colour coated and oiled my body and neck, and have wet sanded to 2000 Grit with wet and dry paper. I'm now wondering which buff compound to use to get it to shine. It's already very...
I see what you mean. If I had a pin router it would be easier to route the neck join and cavities after. The middle of the top section will be flat, as it needs planed to a certain angle for the neck...
It's kind of like that, but more of a radius across the whole guitar body, front and back. I'm thinking of two slabs of wood, arched on one side each, then control cavities cut out, then laminate...
Hi, not sure if this is the correct place to post. What methods would you all use to arch the top of a guitar. Is it best to do it with the rectangular slab of wood and fully radius it, or to do it...
I've just begun applying the crimson guitars High build oil, it's much much thicker than the penetrating and seems like It will build up a nice hard gloss once hardened. I'm Hopeful.
Kind of, but it's still very soft. Only ten coats though.
I gave mine one coat of black stain, sanded back, then two coats of a purple stain i had, it came up nice. The basswood wasn't all that bad. Then i used 10 coats of penetrating guitar oil worked in...
I am also part way through a tele bass build. I asked Simon the same question regarding the switch with the single coil pickup. I shall be watching your build diary with interest. Good luck
It currently has 8-9 coats of the crimson Penetrating oil, and its building up nice. I rubbed in the last two coats with 1500 wet and dry paper and it's came up as smooth as it been yet. Im undecided...
Better picture sorry
Coming along slowly haha. This is with 4coats of crimsons oil, plan to put 6-8 total, if anyone has any experience with it I would like to hear.
Thanks
OK thanks for that. I have some crimson penetrating oil for the clear coat so will use that. The maple finger board has small gaps along the join with the maple neck, so I plan to fill these as I...
Man it's been a while.
Finally got around to working more on this kit, and it's going Swell. The neck is all maple, how do i finish The fret board side of this?
I'm now in contact with brendan through email. Very helpful.
Simon, thanks, I know you did give me some help last year with the first kit, I very much appreciate it. I'm very very basic when it...
I can confirm the body is routed for pickup, control panel, jack and a groud wire from bridge
Thanks brendan, will have a look at trying to work this out and if i can't you might get an email from me haha
Anyone know where I could find a wiring diagram for a tlb4m, need it infront of me to know what im doing, very very basic knowledge of wiring and I notice its one of the only ones not on the pitbull...
