Granted I haven't built mine and won't get to until spring (northern hemisphere) but the low B stringthrough hole in the body seems like it might be a little too far forward. The break angle seemed...
This is what it looked like before I moved the headstock. Was going to post originally this but thought it looked funny and edited a little more.

But, of course,...
Quick and really dirty:

Fretboard angled to match the nut
Neck was a little too long and funny looking with the fretboard angled so I moved the headstock up...

Painting is definitely, uh, something. Finally got the black and clear on. Honestly I think I liked it better with just the primer....
So inks work better than dye for the black? That would make sense, going over the dye with more dye could pull some of the first application out.
I might have to see about getting some stamp ink...
I'd be curious to know how to get that kind of contrast on veneer, since I'd like to do something like a deep red and black with lots of contrast on an (slightly customized) FV-1G eventually. Seems...
Did a mock wiring setup and everything is good except the switch. I'm confused by how this is pre-wired because it doesn't match the wiring diagram. It's either wrong or something funky and...
Looking forward to seeing how it comes out.
Yes, you glue in the set neck. Normal wood glue like Titebond works just fine. It probably won't sit all the way in the pocket, make sure to check the...
Is there a bridge ground hole drilled? It should be a small hole for a wire to go from the control cavity or bridge pickup cavity to one of the bridge posts. My GS-2Q and GMS-7F didn't have one, so...
I think I decided on an another alternative. Instead of routing the cavity edge deeper, I'll just route the edge of a 1/8" thick cover to fit the lip of the cavity.
I should be asleep but...
I don't know about any disadvantages to leaving it clamped too long. But there's no reason to go too tight. You don't need any more pressure than it takes to hold the neck in place while the glue...
An alternative I hadn't considered is just routing the lip on the cavity to be 1/16" deeper. Then I could use a 1/8" sheet which I used for the GS-2Q with decent success.
Will involve asking my...
Control cavity cover is looking a little more difficult than I expected. Needs to be 1/16" or 1.5mm which I had trouble finding, until I realized I needed to look for veneer at that thickness. But...
Assuming you're doing a 1:1 with the original you could do it pretty easily with a custom order on the STAF-1. Just ask for the maple fretboard and a single coil neck route instead of the humbucker...
That sounds close to what I measured. Was worried since the thicker strings generally need to be further back than the scale length suggests. But it's probably fine, since it appeared the actual...
Curious how the pickups end up. I was thinking about modding something onto the baseplates but the lack of screw holes make a lot of things awkward.
How does your scale length measure? I haven't...
Mostly salvaged the neck. Still slightly visible, despite multiple rounds of filling and sanding to the point it felt perfectly flush without looking.

Hopefully you get it looking as good as it was. That matte finished looked great, way better than mine is looking to turn out.
Probably a good idea to use something like a lens cleaning cloth or...
Didn't sand today, but this is most of the damage.

First thought: Oh man the flash shows so much grain.
Second thought: None of the scratches, dings, and...
My kit pickups measured around 1k lower than the ratings listed. I'll probably mod something else on to the baseplate eventually.
I use mineral oil on fretboards. It's the main component of lemon...
Refilled the grain and had it looking better and smoother than before. Sprayed primer, for the most part it built pretty well but there is still a little bit of visible grain. Figured I might have to...
The nut on mine had such little glue holding it that it was loose by the time it arrived. If yours is anything like mine it shouldn't be too hard to get it loose.
The neck pickup cavity is kind of...
I got the vinyl sealer based on the Stew Mac finish guide. Figured I'd need another can of nitro if I used that between the dye and white, or I could use the sealer which the guide recommends.
...
Need to decide what I'm doing with the back too. The option I've been most heavily leaning toward is "reverse dog hair."

I figure that's white -> thin coat(s) of sealer -> ebony filler...
Ordered Colortone sealer, nitro, and pigment. Not the aerosols. Hopefully a quart of nitro is enough to test and finish the guitar. One bottle of pigment and can of sealer should be far more than...
