Pleasure doing business. Best wishes for retirement. Thanks for your customer service and providing a product which has given us all much enjoyment and a community.
My travel guitar had a nasty habit of snapping high E strings. Obviously too much friction bending around the guitar slide. Take 2: cut out the neck and attach it to the best tone plywood and pine...
Love a bright red guitar. Also like your food colouring option, haven’t heard anyone doing that before.
Thanks Drew.
Local Men’s Shed mustn’t of been interested in my application and letting me use their sweet equipment, so I brought a jigsaw instead ($42:98).
14 templates rough cut.
Just caught up with this Sonic. What an outcome!👏🏻
This morning the back is glued together.
Fingers crossed. Hopefully tomorrow I will have a top for carving 😁
Hi Trevor. Plane is my new favourite tool. Note the poor man’s Moxon vice.
So, what have I been up to? Not building guitars.
Long service leave was over before I knew it. I’d been studying part time and needed leave to finish the certificate. Now that’s out of the way I...
Hope it plays and sounds as good as it looks. Nice work 👍
Nice! And no tyre marks on it.
Oh no. I once did that collecting mail from my house when it was for sale. Drove back to find my bills scattered down the street. Take a drive back there and you may find it.
Yes, hopefully I was using the same end of string, haha.
Ok, I just measured the sides and there is no short side. I assumed the cut away added extra length to the side. That’s pretty funny.
Yeah, stoked about getting that job out of the way so early.
The timber does look good, one of the sides does get very thin at one end, but if I make that the shorter side I think I could get away...
Paint…PAINT? I’ve just started my 3 month long service leave but the first two weeks married up with the school holidays. Still, I managed to remove and redo the bathroom tile grout during that time...
I’m not going to pretend to be a timber expert, but I agree with what Simon said. Back, neck and sides have arrived. Next week the kids will be back at school 😉
Arrived with 12” radius and fret slots cut. I feel like such a cheat 🤫
Australian Guitar Timbers are helping me out. I’ve always liked the look of their stuff. Lesson learned, contact the provider...
Fret board has arrived.
Thanks guys, I’ll follow this up.
Ok, top wood is sorted.
I’m having trouble sourcing timber for neck, back and sides.
Stewmac doesn’t tell you the products are unavailable until you click into the product…a bit disappointing...
How high at the bridge? You might be able to modify bridges like I have. Another think to consider is how high will the tail piece be raised off the top. I’ve discreetly attached a little rubber...
Scouting around for book matched timber I’ve come across some interesting images like this one which resembles an animal head. Thought it might make an interesting thread.
It will probably be ok for a light sand, but take it easy.
Check for glue spots.
Check the neck angle to bridge with a straight edge.
Simon Bardon is currently building a ES model for a friend....
