Thanks Simon - lots to think about but it seems that for ease of use and level of experience it may be a bolt on.

Hi All,
I’m thinking about dipping my toe into a semi scratch build. Basically routing out a body shape and attaching a pre-made neck.
I can see that most of the F-style necks are sold out on...
Hey Jugglindan,
Thanks for sending the screws, very kind of you and I am very thankful. Just got them in the mail!
Lol, love the new signature and thanks for your help.
Thanks Jugglindan,
I sent you a PM your a lifesaver! Yep I need the 6 screws.
Hi All,
Okay stupid question, but I seem to have lost my screws for the tuning Machines (you know the tiny ones).
Does anyone know where I could but these in Australia?
@Oby your right, I did about another 12 coats of wipe on with no effect. Maybe some small improvement’s but still a few dimples. I did consider your advise in regards the clear coat, however, I...
To my understanding and from the same question about my GTS-1 kit you simply treat like rosewood. Good luck with the build
Hi Mate,
This is basically my journey. Build and learn to play - building my own guitar actually was very insightful. Good luck
Drop fill didn’t seem to work that well, also would take along time as I believe it’s something to do with the fabric to wood process that’s created the issue.
I think I am going to try and build...
Have tried a drop fill method on a few spots that will be covered by the pick guard. Let’s see
Hi McCreed,
These are all over. That’s why my basic idea was to build up more coats and then sand back to flat.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Hey McCreed,
Orange peel may be a bad name for it / let’s call it dimples - it basically low spots within the finish. In may have been something to do with the fabric or the glue. I sanded fairly...
So have around 35 coats on this now and done a far amount of sanding. Still seems to be lots of orange peel (dimples) on the finish.
What’s the best method to use with wipe on poly to level this...
Hi Mate,
For my first build I was like you. Go slow be methodical and you will be okay
Good luck with the build.
Thanks Simon,
Great advise as always!!! I wanted to add a few more coats to ensure that I don’t sand through to fabric.
I will probably add a few more coats and follow your advise!
Hi All,
Have around 20 coats of poly on right now. Did a quick “level” sand with some 400 grit sand paper and still seem to have some considerable orange peel on this guitar.
I want to slowly...
Good luck with the build! Welcome
Hi mate, welcome and looking forward to see what you do
So I have about 17 thin coats of wipe on now - it’s looking fairly streaky, however does have quite a nice gloss on it. Eventually I would like to cut this back to get a fairly glossy finish. While I...
Welcome aboard
Yep guessing that I will be wiping it on for a while. I will build it up over sometime - annoying this is I will be overseas late Jan so will have to take a back seat again. But until then I will...
Good luck and enjoy the journey of the build -
Hi All,
It’s been a while from my last post and there has been a lot that has happened in the build. In short sanding off the fabric top was a huge pain in the ass!!! If I would have had my time...
