The non_reverse body just looks wrong :( with the reverse body I think a lot also depends one how you play. The Explorer bass suffers similar neck dive for exactly the same reason. Less of an issue...
If it's anything like the grain filler, like you said, an overcast day just won't cut it for curing. I've had a foam brush sitting inside and a couple of weeks after using it, it's still just as wet...
Sounds good. Maybe not reliable, but if you are looking for something hard to find, if you are patient and wait long enough, it might turn up there.
But it's lookin good!
Again thanx Simon . I think I whole idea of replacing the neck pickup with a gibson mudbucker and the bridge pickup (not to be confused with the strat pickup under the damper) a DS hot stacked...
Thanx Simon, but I'm still no closer to an answer. I came across those two wiring diagrams while I was looking, but I don't know which of those two will do what you suggested :o .
Hi All :)
I'm in the process of doing a replica Cliff Burton Ric. I have two wiring diagrams, but not sure which would be the most likely candidate.
Any suggestions?

The three point bridge, the inserts don't sit flush to the body but kinda sit proud because there is no counter bore for the rim of the inserts. the bridge kinda floats off the surface, which is...
Yeh, you can see the pink in the light and brown in the shade. Trust me, the effect will be more dramatic when you get the clear on. You will have more depth, of it's a pearl shift the pearl effect...
Oh man, just when things were going well .... that's usualy the way. Until you have that clear on and cured you have to be so so careful, because base coat is fragile. Once the clear is on the colour...
Thanx for the offer Franky :D . It turns out that amongst the half dozen different bandsaws the shed has, there is a more substantial one in a back room that the old coot didn't bother to mention. I...
We went shopping!
I went back to Trend to pay too much for a piece of Ovangkol (pics of cutup Ovangkol posted on my second scratch build thread). Thursday I went to Mathews to get rock maple. I...
I haven't noticed any issues with hum or other nasty interference... I'm not entirely sure it needs shielding.I must admit, I had the same thoughts about it when did my build but . I think you'll...
Yeh it is... But then again so is decent 2k automotive clear. The water based marine 2k I'm using is about $56 for half a litre  .
Howdeee all :)
So, I'm kinda tackling 3 builds at once (although my next kit hasn't shipped yet, hopefully this week)
This thread covers the build of a Cliffenbacker.
My journey began with...
I think most people recommend giving it a couple of weeks to stabilise. Depending on where you live and how long ago Pit bull received the kit, it may have been though quite the adventure with...
my experience has been that the neck pocket is routed parralell... the width at the back of the pocket (just before the rounded corners caused by the diameter of the router bit) and the width at the...
I see, you're a radical. I recently joined Men's Shed. Nearly all the guys there are retired, and they all seem to make either cutting boards or cheese boards  .
Good to know. I have a custom YB-4 hopefully getting shipped next week, *and* I have the same pickups waiting in their box here for it. I thought they were the standard size. The P bass pickups...
There's no substitute for experience. Until you play around with the stains and techniques, you won't have a feel for what they are going to do.
I kinda figured I should not pretend that everything was strait forward. I hoped that anyone taking the time to read my posts will learn from my mistakes.
Thanx guys :) I think it's...
See? I was right! Any more than 4 strings is just pretentious  .

I have 2 star touch up guns (one for base and one for clear) I've had them for several years and before I moved and was using a 3HP 100l compressor, I was using them probably more then the full...
