If your output it low you might want to raise your pickups. Here's what Fender recommends... I'd pick what you think the Artecs are closest too and experiment a bit.

Changing pot location should would not keep you from having sound, but before connecting it, are you sure the pots are turned all the way up? It's probably a bad ground, but it's a good idea to check...

That should have been .8" at fret 1 and .85" at 12 for the Warmoth standard neck.

The Highline guitar guy aims for about .85 at the 1st Fret and .95 at the 12th. I may aim that way as well.

Ha! That's about DB. In the early days of this build DB gave some helpful advice...not the least was what to do with the 3 point bridge that came with the kit.
