I get what you're saying. But, if you believe what they say then a glue joint is stronger than wood itself, so surely moving the wood shouldn't be an issue? And I was already looking at thinning that...
I didn't sleep yet. Did more measuring. Working out the pickup locations so the polls are the same relative distance (percentage) as on the normal 648mm scale length (77.4% and 93.6%). This resulted...
Nut to 12th fret is 341.5, maybe even 341.8 ish. So it's not exactly half the 685mm they have written on the heel. Probably 683.5. So that's a couple of mm less that I'd have to worry about. But...
Can't believe it's been 3.5 years since I last posted. Almost to the day. What happened? Certainly not much with this kit. It's been sitting in a box unloved.
Last weekend I open up the box again....
Yeah I saw that one last week too. No electronics though. Bit of a strange kit without them. I imagine as an acoustic it wouldn't have much volume.

I think there's another thread discussing this. The biggest problem is the pickups. The Fishman units are very expensive and are what:
1) does the modelling to allow the guitar to sound like various...

As for a bass..... what about a baritone? 27-30" 6 string.
I'd be interested in a 6 string but a little shorter scale length. Maybe 24"-26". And a hardtail. For body shape I quite like Ibanez / super strat style kits like XB-1, DMF-8, and AIB-1. Or even...
Hello.... also from Belco.

Wouldn't that just be the STAF-1? Or would you want a true HSS? Most companies (kit and even Fender) I've seen do a HSH route to allow more flexibility.

I have a Fender Mustang III V2. It doesn't have quite as many features as the new Mustang GT line but it's arguably better sounding. This could partly be due to it having a single Celestion 12" amp...
This guitar has been sitting for a long time not getting any work done on it. Was waiting for it to get warmer to do some more clear coats after sanding it months ago.
But tonight I did something...
Is it my imagination or is Tapatalk making all images look really bad now? Changed over to using Imgur and it's way better.

I got new dyes..... so of course I redid the stain again.https://i.imgur.com/Lofp8Ds.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/0KICK37.jpg
Looking good. I prefer the black one for sure.

I really think it is good enough. And... you have nothing to lose right? Let other people be the judge. The extra modifications and attentions to detail really put this above your average kit build....
Or you could make some sawdust with that excess bit. Mix it with timbermate or glue into a paste.

Beautiful looking build there! Should be proud of how it turned out. Can I suggest submitting your build to the September GOTM?
I just got a very similar kit and I'm looking at how I'm going to...
I had an itchy finger and almost bought a PRS style kit from them. Somehow I ended up buying an ES-350 style kit from Haze instead.
Good luck with the build.

So I came across this bass when I was looking at various guitar things on the net. Looks very similar to the shape of this bass, though the carve of the bevels is slightly different. Interesting.......
I like the wet colour of the photo I posted. Unfortunately when it has completely dried it came out quite a lot lighter. And the magenta completely disappeared. The colour didn't look bad..... but...
Another attempt.
Sanded it all back and mixed up a different blue. Stained the whole thing purplish blue first. Wiped over the centre to lighten it. Then added a bit of magentaish purple to the...
But more playing with colours. Sanded, more stain added / reworked .
Still some issues with covering some patches. Not sure why as there's no joins for there to be glue or the like. I'm wondering...
