The bass is for me.
Thank you Gents!
Cheers McCreed,
Ha-ha! No Band-aids required during this assembly!! They might've been out for a heel blister or some other boring injury.
It has been a good project for him, to learn the parts...
Now onto the next build...
I have ordered one of the short-scale P-Bass kits, PB-30M. They are on backorder though so will hopefully get it mid-late November.
A summer holidays project!
And here is the finished product. It looks really good, the black hardware was unexpected but I think it adds to the appearance. It sounds great and plays nicely after setup and a bit of neck relief...
After about 3 coats of spray we finished with about 15-20 coats of Tru-oil. Shielded, polished, electronics wired up with no issues. Had to sand a little bit off the pick-guard and the cavity cover...
Next up after sanding and grain-fill, we stained with a cherry-red bottle from eBay (3 coats) then sprayed with cherry-red nitro which really gave a lovely deep colour.

Last week we finished the SG build. I've been a bit slack and not updated the build diary as we went so I going to put a condensed highlights reel up now.
First up was shaping the headstock (coping...
The stain may fade as it dries so might be no need to add more white. I used the Karijini Red Dingotone and the colour changed once dry.
With Tru-oil you may get away with 2-3 coats per day...
Thanks Andy,
I was very happy when I got a good piece for this kit as I wanted to do a natural finish. The Tonerider pickups are awesome, the more I play, the more I like them.
Yes, the Iceman...
Thanks McC!
As long as I also age nicely...
Thank you Gents!!
Finally got around to completing the Tele project.
I was waiting for a few bits to get delivered before finishing it off. The scratch-plate that came with the kit was a really tight fit so I filed...
Thank you Simon,
I had the black hardware/bridge post grounding experience with my IC-1 build. Something I'm bound to forget later on.
Your GSJ/GSM build diary has been a good source of info as...
The cabinet looks amazing! What a great set-up, the 1W setting is always handy when it comes to keeping the neighbours happy.
...and we got black hardware too which he was really happy about. I thought chrome was the standard with these kits.
The kit arrived today. One really excited kid in the house (and one really excited adult too)!
All looking good so far. There'll be a bit more sanding required on this kit compared to my first 2...
That's good to know. Thank you.
Thank you Simon,
That looks much neater indeed.
I found a mixed bag on eBay for $5.95.
or...
Could I just put some insulating tape around the joints?
Thank you again Simon,
Haven't heard of the heat shrink before but it makes a lot of sense. I'll have a look in my local electronic store:...
I wired up the Tele last night. It was pretty straight forward, tested it by touching the pups with a screwdriver, it made the right clicks at the right time.
Sat down last night and thought, damn...
Yesterday I ordered kit number 3. AG-1 https://www.pitbullguitars.com/shop/guitars/pit-bull-guitars-sg-1-electric-guitar-kit/
My 11-year old has taken an interest in playing and he has had a 7/8...
I love the traditional Tele headstock shape but wanted something a little different but not too weird.
I pinched the idea from these lovely guitars:
