I wonder if a curved - semi-circular or semi-elliptical (or at least with a rounded low point) - pivot block wouldn't be a more durable implementation of the idea ...
Peter
The bass hasn't been out much of late, but I'm super excited to be part of an upcoming Keith Green tribute concert at City Diggers in Wollongong on 27 Aug. Details here...
Looking good, Stu! I can see a glimpse of the body there, too ...

Nice rescue!

I have an unused pack of cork placemats somewhere that would do the job nicely, by cutting & glueing varied width strips on a wood block @ fret spacing offsets. Another WDITOT moment!

No-one can dig a hole. You can dig the dirt or whatever material you need to replace with a hole. You just dig, and then you see a hole. Actually, no-one can see a hole since it's a void. Avoid...
What type of soft wire brush would be recommended? I'll have to think about prepping my HB-4 before eventually giving it a burst finish.

Thanks for chiming in, Jim. I considered the possibility and found one solution here...
A question for those with completed HB-4 builds:
The most obvious neck strap button position is on the neck heel. Is there any tendency for neck dive on the HB-4?
Peter
The neckplate has arrived. However, it's apparent there's not enough width in the neck to accommodate threaded inserts as I'd hoped. I do like the look and idea of it, though. I guess the best...
Ditto re- the pick guard, and the round pinheads seems like a neat idea, too! With a lined fretless in my own stable, I can see - or rather, feel - the benefit of the protruding markers on a virgin...
And so he should be thrilled. Nice job!
Peter
Tracking info says the neck plate landed in Oz yesterday, so looking good for arrival next week sometime :)

Holey block, Batman, I got the drill press to work! 2nd hole punch there just needs a slight shift left. Otherwise, this one's shaping up nicely.

Ditto. I also think the reverse headstock with a longer lead on the bass strings aids the deep lows you've achieved. Nice job!
Peter
I also roughed out the brass block, still have to grind the ends to round over before attempting to drill into it.

A minor mod to the logo concept after some suggestions:

Thanks for the input, Simon. Here's another attempt to incorporate your suggestions.

Thanks for the good advice, Simon.
Over in the Decals/Graphics topic I shared some doodling for the logo I intend to put on the headstock. It captures the name of this build, a possibly...
Thanks for getting back to me, Phil. I don't have next gen tools, but I was actually able to print a mashup to pdf which appears to be vectorised as it remained smooth as I zoomed in. All I needed...
I think I'll be happy with this:

Since I happen to have an August birthday, I welcome any reason to celebrate!

I pride myself on still getting by with improper power tools ...
