Good advice guys, the plan has been to use a 3-4mm top. Well that's what the pocket depths have been setup for. Like you say I prefer to use a thicker top than a thin veneer, though it thought it...
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check them out. Looks like I will have to get it from overseas.
Brendan, the guys set on a maple top but I'll definitely check out those veneers, I like the idea...
Hi guys, I'm trying to source some flamed maple for a bookmatched top on a Tele build. I haven't had much luck finding anything so far.
It only needs to be a veneer a few mm thick but I can work...
I'd say just the single pup rout. It's a lot easier to remove wood than it is to fill it back in.
Here's a demo.

I'm trying to upload a demo at the moment. Taking forever it seems.
Yeah Pablo, I built this one for myself from offcuts and other timber I had laying about. And indeed we need to catch up soon, I want to try that red beast of yours and your jazz master too.
I...
Cheers guys, it's got a nice mid range punch to it, quite snappy. I'm happy with how it sounds, the switching is dead quiet too. No crackles or pops at all.
And a few more.
Here's some pictures.
Hi Guys, just want to share my latest build with you.
This guitar is one of my body shapes with a slight tweak to to upper horn. The Body is a very lightweight Walnut with Rock Maple cap, and...
Hey Jeff. Sounds like your first build has been fun.
Welcome.
+1 on the headstock :)
I made the exact same errors on my first few neck pockets. It's very easy to dip the router on that front edge.
I make my neck pocket templates like this, it extends fast...
Actually, it looks like they might of come out of the flood.
Gibson's customer return center.
Just saw this thread now Pablo, don't know how I missed it.
That looks clean as, nice job. Easy when you have a good template hey.
And yeah, when you are boring out the cavities before routing...
Is that a Jim root model. Looks killer.
Yes, now crowning them would be task.
The probably have their own Plek system to do it. If you want to put these frets on a neck, you have to send it to them to do it in house.
Hi peter. It shouldn't be to much of a task to shave a bit off the neck.
If you don't want to remove to much thickness but more so want to adjust the profile and soften the shoulders, just hit it...
Oh sweet. Were posting Tele pics now.
Here's my no.1. And some shots of other Tele's in the wild.
The amazing thing isn't how they make them. They just press a button on a CNC.
The amazing thing is the theory behind it. Looks hella ugly though.
One can never have enough Tele's.
Congrats to all the winners. It's amazing to see the standard of builds getting better and better by the year. What's this year going to produce?
I've got. It's a can crusher.
