Just did my 2 :)
Nice!
ive done an ib-4 kit, a few problems that i came across were:
the stock bridge was pretty bad in the final set up, i upgraded to a schaller bridge which was much better
The nut is...
Wooohoo nice one!!
The nut is high but even with that at it’s right height I don’t think it will fix it, the only way is to remove the neck and fix the angle as mentioned before. Amazing work on the finish! Gutted...
From what I can see (I’m no expert) the neck level looks ok from looking at other explorers online .
Is it the stock bridge? Maybe a different bridge would help? It’s strange it’s so high. How high...
Thanks!!! i tried to unwind but unfortunately it snapped off 3/4 the way round ugh!
ill have to send this in, anyone know a good place in the UK ?
Yeah I just had a look and it’s only £35 to get a rewind so not the end of the world, and if it works then yay I leant something :)
Nice, I’ll give that a go today, I was thinking about unwinding one turn but wasn’t sure if that was ok to do.
Thanks Simon,I think I’ll try this first
It’s a proper American fender one so hopefully I can get get it done otherwise I’ll have to send it off
Hi everyone
ive got this old fender single coil middle pickup that a friend sent me, managed to get the neck one in and working but the middle one didn't work at all.
on closer inspection it...
Is the soldering iron still on when you get the hum? I was having lots of noise and re soldering everything driving my self crazy and found out that the hum was coming from the soldering iron being...
I agree with Simon,, and this one is super easy to swap out too
Nice looking bass!! I have the same pickups and I managed to screw in a battery clip to the side of the control cavity, clips in nicely and is secure.
The biggest challenge was the pickup rings...
Bridge is great, prob one of the best stock bridges ive seen so far
So its been quite a while but its finished now phew!!
ive reworked this since, i went way too shiny with the oil first time around, sanded back completely and started again, with the vaneer i...
thanks simon,
yeah not too bad, takes a bit to get used to, lots of looking at the fretboard whilst playing ;)
Finally finished this, had a bit of trouble with it and had to get some help with a fret i damaged. Had to get it replaced
it plays really well now, it has a push/pull cts pot (Just fits in) to...
i got the comp and chorus, absolute bargain
Hey guys in Aus, Donner are selling loads pedals for $10
...
you may want to upgrade the bridge before you install, My IB-4 bridge was terrible, you cannot get a decent action when setting up, i went with a schaller 3d-4. Its night and day and really makes the...
This is my guess.
Green and red soldered together,
black is the hot
white and bare is ground
With the 5 wire pickups you need to solder together the 2 unused wires and tape them up,
I’m not certain on which wires are what here (Simon explained it above I think) but you should only have 2...
Hi!
i just built the 4 string version of this, the barrel jack it comes with is really bad, i would strongly advise to buy a switch-craft one,
its a little confusing as to which is ground and...
Hi! I did this same build last year, the neck on mine had to be set a few mm back so the pickup would fit in, it’s a tight fit so be careful and also double check the scale length.
Ok so I’ve had this set up for a while tinkering as much as possible trying to avoid fret levelling but I think it’s unavoidable. As soon as I get anywhere near a nice action it buzzes and the 14th...
