Yeah, to me it doesn't seem to be machined right. It's actually flat at the back and then sort of has a curve to it. I would have assumed the whole section would need to be flat to get good contact...

It's been a while since my first build now, and although I hardly have time on my hands anymore running around after an 18 month old, I couldn't resist picking up one of the specials...

The SG-1 I did had the same colour burst and I did a satin finish on it. I was really pleased with how it turned out, but I reckon your ES would look good either way.

Of all the axes you've done Wokka, this is my favorite. That burst just screams classy from the rooftops :)
