P.S. some of the other 'old men' around here may not be so deferential.

Eh?
And then followed with
Somebody requires a digestive biscuit and a bit of a lie down.
I only use silver but they certainly do gold.
Small jar of Tamiya modelling paint.

Dries fairly quick (I only leave it for about 15 minutes)
cheers, Mark.
A 'few'? yer lucky.
Every rehearsal complex I've walked into features several hammering away simultaneously.
I've only encountered 2 individuals who I would consider professional drummers.
It...
Didn't seem that bad.
No, the drummer has no sense of dynamics and was cheerfully drowning everyone else out.
Cheers, Mark.
You can definitely pick up a brand new Squier Mustang cheaper than buying an aftermarket neck for one.
cheers, Mark.
Those are definitely closer to my price range.
However you get a better bargain here under your nose

I've gotten a neck off e-bay but it was a 24"...
I've done it both ways also. A Pitbull neck fitted quite well in a Squier Tele body.
Pitbull STA neck fitted quite well into 2 non-Fender spec bodies.
Looking at that site makes me think it's...
Huh? that's a new terminology to me. Any examples?
cheers Mark.
A cautionary tale for all potential ES-5 owners and current owners crying into their tea.
Somehow I'm thinking my decision not to leap on this one are somehow vindicated.
Having looked though, I...
The thread with the same title was repeated 13 minutes apart..unlucky for some.
cheers, Mark.
I remember this one. I liked the look of it too. Obviously not as much as you though. (else this would be my thread).
All the sins are concealed within the body, so why not just glue some extra...
I use the same method for sanding saxophone reeds flat.
A blob of blue-tack.
cheers, Mark.
Comes in handy as a cheap way to mock up a custom pick-guard before committing it to acrylic.

As it comes with a cheap set of strings, my approach is to build it up to decent playing condition.
Only then do I start to think about finishing.
cheers, Mark.
(Throws caution to the wind) I tend to get a dull response no matter what garment I put on.
cheers, Mark.
Mine came with top mount and string through holes.

That's a blow. Probably the reason why the DMS kits have disappeared.
At least your replacement is proper rosewood...the DMS one's were 'engineered' rosewood.
cheers, Mark.
Phew! I'm glad you didn't take a profile shot.
cheers, Mark.
'Out There' gets my vote every time.

Before the PitBull 'lawsuit' period...when this style was banished from the menu.
Surprisingly now back. https://www.pitbullguitars.com/single-cut/

Some paint brands take forever to dry properly.
I got some cheap red spray paint on my JM-1 that's been hanging in the garage for over a month.
I'll probably play it safe and leave it until (edit)...
Yes, that pretty comprehensively covers the way I attempt it.
Even the part about revisiting some time later...perhaps before a string change.
(or in my case a neck re-fret).
cheers, Mark.
Good to hear. FWIW the spare screws that came with the Trem-King.

I used ebony Timbermate on my last build to highlight the grain as you have.

Never tried 'laquer' based paint so can't help there. would possibly test it in an inconspicuous area (like...
