Yip, definitely store it upside down. There is a foil seal under the lid, don't peel this off. Just make a small hole. This should help the life span of the TO.
That looks amazing!
and the tuner heads are on...

So... today I finished the neck. I gave it a final few thin coats of TO last week with a light rub with the micro mesh pads in between. Left it to cure and fully harden for at least a week.
Today I...
Awesome, Thank you.
Hi Waz,
Do you mean applying the TO/turp mix with the sandpaper
or
Wet sanding between coats?
I have read many different methods of applying TO.
Cheers,
Graham
Looking good!
Thank Waz,
The Bass looks really nice. I wouldn't be unhappy with that finish.
I've spent the last few weeks applying Tru-oil, 1 coat a day, 2 coats on Saturdays and Sundays when I'm home.
It...
Thank you, That was actually going to be my next question. I was wondering whether to give a gentle run over with a high grit or (dare I say it) 0000 steel wool. Now I will leave it and let the TO do...
Yesterday I peeled off the tape that was covering the binding. In some places it did its job really well, less so in other spots.

Thanks Waz.
I'm going to go with the tru-oil - maybe the yellowing will give it a vintage look?
That is one nice looking guitar. I hope it sounds as good as it looks!!
I am still waiting patiently for the Dingotone intensifying coats to dry on the body. I think I am going to skip the Dingotone finishing coats and finish it with Tru-oil.
It was a nice day today so...
Welcome,
Enjoy your build and looking forward to seeing your progress.

So I took the masking tape off the fretboard and binding on the neck. Cleaned up the residue with a drop of Shellite. Will add another few coats of Tru-oil (I put 6 on already) and see how it goes....
Thank you again McCreed!!
FYI, I used White Knight Crystal clear as it was recommended by the people that sold the decal paper:

Yip, it all looks good so far. Come to think of it - I put the decal on and gave it a few days to dry. I think I then put 2-3 coats of the Dingotone neck finish on top before I started on the...
I recently have done a similar thing.
Inkjet decal which I sprayed with acrylic spray. Once dry I applied it to the guitar as per the instructions. I have put a few (6) coats of Tru-oil over the top...
Quick question??
When to scrape the binding? I masked the binding before staining and I intend to finish with a few coats of Tru-oil. Do I leave the masking on and apply the tru oil? OR Remove...
Great idea - and could be another use for the 10 A4 sheets of decal paper that I bought!!
That's awesome thank you. I'll pick up a bottle the next time I do the dreaded "big shop."
Thank you McCreed,
Like you, I got a bottle of this stuff around 1995 when I bought my Les Paul. I'm pretty sure it's still in a flight case with some left in the bottle:...
Thank you.
I might just stick with plan A - a little wax on the fretboard.
