Thanks for the info fender 3x. I might try and get an extender and give it a try.

Thanks for the info fender 3x. I might try and get an extender and give it a try.
Great work. They look very neat.
Wow, that veneer looks amazing! What type of wood is it?
That is a shame about the colour shift paint. Well done to you for your perseverance. The silver looks good.
Very Nice. I have also never seen or heard of a "strap extender" to stop nose dive - (I lead a sheltered life!). Is yours attached to the neck plate?
I had to google the G&L ASAT bass. Looks nice! Is yours natural colour?
My pine basses are between 3.4 and 3.7 kg (assuming my luggage scale is accurate), and the Victorian ash bass was 4.2 kg.
The paulownia body has quite a lot of character! I never realized it could have that much pattern. For my axe bass the paulownia had no pattern at all.
How heavy is the SX jazz at the moment?
I'm calling this "scratchy Tele" series done for now. Unless I get a nice piece of wood that screams out TELE!
It has been a fun, and educational, adventure. It started with the idea of making a...
Thanks Rabbit and fender3x.
@fender3x - the basses are all similar to play. The Victorian Ash is nicest with the arm contour, but my favorite is the Jarrah striped.
Thanks fender3x.
I have now assembled the Victorian Ash tele bass. I splashed out and got a Seymore Duncan Quater Pound Single Coil pickup. Electronics is volume and tone only. Strings are...
Today I have repeated the polishing process on the front as I was not very happy with yesterday's result! Wet-sanded again to 2000 g, polished with Kustom Creations grits, and finally Maguire's...
Today I have given the body and headstock a wet/dry rub from 1200 to 2000 g, polished them with Kustom Creations Kustom Grit step 1 (cutting compound), and step 2 using a Random Orbital Polisher and...
Thanks fender3x. The neckplate is simply a vinyl sticker. I'm not sure how well it will last there, but it is a "permanent" sticker! I have placed a sticker onto the pickguard of another build,...
Hi and welcome wooshka.
Lots from the Perth area. How South-West are you?
This is a great hobby where you can combine your building skills with your love of guitars.
I have done a number of...
And one completed pickguard. Routed out using a straight pattern following bit, and then the edges are angled using a chamfer moulding 45 degree pattern following bit.
Today I have made a template for the Tele bass pickguard. I have based it on the style of a thinline guard. It is made from 12mm mdf. There is only a volume and tone for the controls!
Looks good. A lot more storage friendly than an old style oscilloscope!
Another work build.
The body is stained with Ubeaut water-based cedar dye (100%), coated with wiped-on tru-oil. I have also added a few sprayed coats of Cabot's water-based gloss polyurethane, 2...
Thanks Fender3x. I have put down another 5 coats today - that should be enough!
This sounds like "silently" guitar building!
Great. I'm glad it is better with some good strings.
PS. The guitar looks great.
She looks very nice. Great work!
From the video, I think the neck pup is really close to the low E and quite far from the high E string. This may be affecting the volumes.
But, I would be trying good strings.
Hi catmeowin,
Are you using the kit strings? They often do not have enough iron to get a good output. Is the output for the B & E strings on the bridge pup weaker than the other strings?
I...
Today the weather has been a bit cooler, so I have sprayed a red burst and got some final coats on. The red for the burst was Ubeaut water-based red dye mixed in with Cabot's water-based Poly. This...
