Wow that looks great!
I’d consider covering it with clear coat before you do anything else. I’d use a spray, what kind of paint was used? You want something compatible, so an acrylic clear on...
That looks superb! Nice job
Interesting reading, I am very tempted to get one of these kits but these issues are a bit off putting
Nice job everyone! Well done Prodpk and Mike, great instruments!
I’d like to try that one too
Did a LP hollow body, used screened cable. A punish to fit it all in without seeing it through the f holes
That blue Tele looks awesome
I have had no issues with polyurethane clear over stained sanding sealer, Feast Watson brand
Awesome comments, I hope you enjoy your guitar, what’s next?
The blade looks great!
But you will need to play fretless then too….. way to complex for me anyway
There’s some impressive woodwork going on here 😁
Thanks! I think he will like it. I really like the worn but shiny look on it, so this will be what I’ll go with for sure
You could stain it with feast Watson black Japan. That won’t bleed through
Sand and rasp away! 😁
Makes sense. We haven’t done one in 18 months, but the few we did were well finished out of the box. They looked really sharp just clear coated, and were nice and dense.
I don’t remember it being an issue. It was very smooth and didn’t need much sanding from memory
We have done a couple of these. They do look sharp just clear coated but we never tried to stain one. If you get the stain you want to stick perhaps a single spray coat of poly clear might set the...
I did a flat arm bevel with a belt sander on my first TLA, as I was blending strat and Tele on that project. That ash was so hard even the belt sander took a while to cut through. The build diary is...
Looks awesome.
I’m guessing you have the single coil tone capacitor on humbucker pickups so the tone isn’t working much
Now that’s a great idea!
Might be worth staining black, and then sand the black off before staining the colour, leaving the black in the grain
Yep, I can see the lifted frets. If it was only that you could perhaps seat them, but the other issue seems the problem
I think I have decided on a finish. Building this for my sons teacher as a surprise gift at the end of the year. Did a sunburst on the mahogany body and clear coated it, but wasn’t keen on the look,...
Yes I was happy indeed. And there didn’t seem to be any feedback on the Tonerider precision pickups I could find so I took a chance installing them over the DM or another ‘name’ brand. Not surprised...
Well, I managed to give this bass a good testing through the Ampeg PF500 during a rehearsal last night, and I must say I am impressed with the Tonerider PB pickup. For decades I have used D'Marzio...
