Thanks fender3x, hadn't noticed that before. Thought maybe the new owners had migrated! Haven't heard much from them eh?
What is the symbol in front of price? Have we migrated to Euros?
Any possibility of a Rickenbacker 6-string? Just a thought for the new owners.
Built this kit 2 years ago. Always stain/poly/or paint body and neck separately before setting neck. Electronics last step. Bigsby means tuning each time you pick it up. Good luck.
Nice to hear it's staying local. All the best Adam and many thanks for the great customer service over my past seven builds. Welcome Tim to a very well-run establishment; keep up the good work.
I am quite pleased with the sound quality; given it's acoustic/electric means it's a big rounded sound. Only problem I've had is tuning - the Bigsby means that I have to tune it every time I play...
Looking good Opie. I did an HB4 bass some time ago and got some good tips from the forum. Might help you to take a look at mine. Good luck with the build.
I too had problems with Dingotone on my Gretsch kit. I eventually sanded it back and rattle-canned several coats of green. On later kits I ended up using Feast & Watson stains instead.
Beautiful sound- much better than mine although I was quite pleased by the sound out of the electronics delivered with the kit.
Have used Guitarkitworld (ES335) and it is a great sounding kit but normal Gibson headstock.
Should read 'through' not three and thrust; didn't like my 'thru'
I bought a semi hollow LP some years ago from DIY Guitars but I think they folded some time back. Trick with threading pots etc is to use tubing in three the pot holes and out thrust the f holes and...
Thanks Overlord, such a simple explanation. You've no idea how pleased I am to have this solved after 2 years of trying! Onward and upward! Now for Build#7 although technically I already did this as...
Trying to follow some help re signatures. Mine show the actual link address rather than eg Build#6 and I can't understand how to get the 'Build#6' into the signature. When I edit it, simply replacing...
I finished a 'Mozzie' last month and am pretty happy with the sunburst. Didn't have either of the problems you mentioned but did have to drill a couple of mini-holes to be able to get the pots to sit...
Bit more of a close-up.43984 ThanksTrevor for your helpful advice.
Did the final solder; attached pickguard; hammered in four posts; assembled bridge etc; strung it up; set it up; tuned it then had an hour playing to my satisfaction! Hope you like the finished...
Managed to fit in a good two hours soldering this morning, wiring to everything on the pickguard. Only thing outstanding is fixing bridge post earth to tone pot, then I can start to assemble. Have...
Progress is slow due to high temps in the garage!43976
Thanks Trevor. Took for me the easier option and drilled two 2.5mm holes in pickguard and fitted pots flush. Next stop wiring.
Looked at fitting pots to pickguard. Has anyone seen pots like those shown? What is the small lug to the left on top of the base of the pot? Never come across this before. Naturally the pots will not...
Thanks again Trevor; drilled some 4mm deep holes in bottom of neck pup cavity and a couple into bridge pup cavity even though this single pickup actually had 'screws' supplied, as opposed to the...
Fitted the tuners and strap pins. Took a look at the electronics - presumably the neck pickup (humbucker) needs to have its black plastic surround removed in order to fit under the pickguard? Only...
After several applications of Truoil each one followed by a light sand with 0000 steel wool, kit body looking better. Bolted on the neck yesterday having applied a PitBull decal to headstock (hard to...
Did a fairly hard sanding with 120 then applied a coat of stain (colours Golden Teak, Mahogany and Black) and came up with the attached (see pic). A better result compared to first attempt so thanks...
