Welcome Mathew!
Also, don't forget to run a ground wire from a pot casing into one of the bridge or tailpiece post holes to ground the strings.
I say just do it. Yes, it a whole other learning curve but you'll be glad you made the leap once you do.
Hi juz.
Don't know where you're located, but sandpaper grades are different depending on country/region.
Not sure if you're referring to P220 vs 220, or P360 vs 360. HERE is a link to a chart...
I'm going to take a punt and say you have now spent more on parts than you did for the kit???
If I'm right, congratulations! Everyone needs to have at least one over-capitalised guitar in their...
It's epoxy or filler isn't it? :(
Marcel, you are correct. They are EL84's. I was just confused because the thread started out as a 5E3 build.
Pretty cool guitar.
Are the notched speed knobs original?
Some pretty "modern" features on there for 1983.
Sounds like a plan!
You gots skills mate!
Is that blood I see on the top of the body near where the skull will go??????
(it better be, or I'll be super disappointed :p)
LOL! Thanks Captain O! :o
I'll need to pay closer attention (or not be too lazy to reread through entire threads).
I thought this was 5E3/6V6 build??? What did I miss?
+1 on Toneriders.
I'm not a huge HB guy, the ones I've have had in the past have been really good sounding and value for money.
I think their single coils are great as well.
Very noice!
Looks great. Hope it sounds great too!
With that colour, it should be a "Prince-ton" (get it???)
Well done!
If you ever find yourself on the northside of the city, give me hoy. We can catch up for a cuppa.

That's some nice work there Tony. And nice looking timber.
Look forward to seeing them with clear on there.
Sorry, but that made me laugh!
I agree with Simon that routing it now would not be a big deal. When I've routed finished bodies, I have masked the body (and the base of the router) to prevent any scratching. If you're not going to...
Nice work Stu!
What I didn't like about that Amazon set, was that the teeth did not go beyond the radius and up the "V" like the Hoscos do. I'm not a big fan of V-cut files anyway, but I think those would make it...
If cost is an issue, the $136 set from Plaza Japan is a *really* good price. With DHL, they'd get to AUS pretty quickly.
I bought a bass set and new crowning file from there and they didn't take...
I've had this set of Hiroshima* for about 5 years, and have very happy with them. Definitely good quality and the range of sizes will allow you cut nearly any guitar nut.
Their located in QLD and...
Nice work.
How well does the vinyl stick?
Also, is it thin enough to bury under a clear coat, or would that require ridiculous amounts of clear?
Nice. Very mirror-like! You could shave in that reflection!
