With something like that I would make up a caul to help clamp it. Sounds ominous: its not.
Get a piece of scrap wood and cut a v shaped notch in it as close to the angle of the loose piece as you...

Maybe I'm imagining it, don't know. Very hard to compare photos really...
An interesting observation on this guitar is that its been hanging on my bookcase for the last couple of years, where it gets plenty of light but almost no direct sun, and I really think that the...
The physics of friction and nut slots are probably even more complicated. I don't know about you folks, but I kinda assume that the nut and the string are completely rigid, but on the scale we are...
I had that problem with my 66 build. I was using Fiebings leather dye and the don't seem to do a decent red red, they all seem to tend to a bluish cast for something I would call nearer pink or...
I think you have to me using a *very* wide definition of the word variant for that to be true, they really are rather different, although I suppose there's an argument that one thin coat of...
I'm something of an epoxy fan, used it a lot for boat building. Not much for my amateur level luthiery though.
There are ultra thin paint on epoxies, and I've used one to stabilise lower quality...
The last pair of f holes I cut took me most of an afternoon, by hand with a scalpel in a spruce top. The difference in wood density on the growth rings made it really hard... at least at my level of...
I worked this up from some official photographs and some dimensions provided by owners of one of the instruments. I don't think its too far out. I built a guitar from the outline which looks OK to...
There are Fender and 3rd party JB necks with the top access truss rod so its not impossible - indeed the more moderately priced 3rd party JB necks I found last time I looked were pretty much all top...
I think I might try scraping before I got into sandpaper if the finish is as dubious as you suggest, at least to get down to the primer. Trouble is you really need a scraper with a convex blade to...
There's pretty much always help available, but you do need to be a lot more specific. It certainly looks like one of the more complex kits electrically, although I presume yours is largely prewired...
I wouldn't worry too much until you have done all the finishing you are going to do. A few layers of [your choice of finish] in the holes may be all that's needed to turn loose fit into satisfactory.
Agree with Simon, fill the holes and redrill.
What I did on a body of mine was to locate the bridge, drill holes half way through from top towards bottom using an undersize drill, and drill only...
It's funny you should say that... I did want to photograph the pair against the leafy background, but I only have one guitar stand.

It's been a long time, been a lot of distractions, but it's new guitar day with the 66 body. The second pic shows it alongside my beloved Jazz Bass. Do they make a nice pair?
The...
Think the screws are usually a standard metric thread. Worth getting a couple of plain steel ones and experimenting with how far they need to be turned down to fit? Or even stainless steel which...
It's never quite as simple as at least I thought at first, because the controls all interact with each other. I hope this isn't egg sucking advice, but the trap I've fallen into is to think is...

I've decided to call the finish done. It kinda passes the 3ft distance test, at least if you close your eyes.
Now I need to sort out the nut and level the frets...
A1. It depends how much material and where from, but you'd have to try very hard. If you don't touch anything between the tuners and the fingerboard you'll be pretty safe.
A2. They vary as far as...
If its soft underneath you could try scraping the top layers off to save sandpaper.
The first thing to do is to go into a guitar shop and look equally closely at their stock...
But I wonder if this is a grain raising type phenomenon, in which case if you take it back again it...
6 coats of tru oil doesn't sound like an awful lot if you get the sandpaper out.
I do a lot of scraping with a Stanley knife blade. Might be easier to control. After all you only need to remove finish that's visible.
If you are up for changing the volume/tone control config you could consider a rotary switch in place of one of the pots to do the coil tap, which would be an awful lot easier to fit in place. But...
