This sounds like "silently" guitar building!
Great. I'm glad it is better with some good strings.
PS. The guitar looks great.
She looks very nice. Great work!
From the video, I think the neck pup is really close to the low E and quite far from the high E string. This may be affecting the volumes.
But, I would be trying good strings.
Hi catmeowin,
Are you using the kit strings? They often do not have enough iron to get a good output. Is the output for the B & E strings on the bridge pup weaker than the other strings?
I...
Today the weather has been a bit cooler, so I have sprayed a red burst and got some final coats on. The red for the burst was Ubeaut water-based red dye mixed in with Cabot's water-based Poly. This...
Yes, that is why I was fond of using Tru-oil.
Looking good. That colour really suits an SG style.
Good that you are still making some progress.
It has been way to hot and humid here (and there has been way too much non-guitar related work) for me to make any progress. Hopefully that will...
Tips:
Don't sand above 180 g (I go to 240 g) paper before you stain.
Sand more than you think you need to.
Good luck
Hi Ivo Kalis,
can you post a few pictures of your soldering, including the jack plug. That may make it easier to problem solve.
Thanks JohnH.
It has been very hot and humid in Perth over the last 2 months. Hopefully, it will be better spraying weather soon so I can make some more progress.
Great news!
Great work fender3x. She looks wonderful and very unique! I love the colour combo (and the inspiration for the combo). A long build, but hopefully you ended up with the guitar that you wanted (and...
Very nice. This is going to look great when all assembled!
Great work. Looks very nice. I'm glad you got the toneriders in.
Very nice, very shiny. Great work.
I would not use a pocket knife, but if you have those skills if could work.
+1 for this. I also have found that furniture scrapers are good to remove material from plastic pickguards and covers.
Thanks fender3x. But, ERRR, to be honest, I had actually pulled it out a year ago. The neck was a reject with a very bad twist! But I did want to see how they worked. I run a guitar building...
Yes, I use the same clear coat material in the cavities (to avoid any reactions between different finishes). I would not give the cavities the same number of coats as the body, just enough to seal...
I try to seal all the cavities at least once. Even the neck pocket (for bolt on necks (NOT for glue on necks)) at least once before I put on the lollypop stick.
I'm not sure if I need too! I...
I'm not sure, but this is what they look like! This is from a bass neck.
There should be new stock coming in soon!
