lol - bit of brute force did the trick! Thanks so much.
ok thanks - I have a gotoh tuneomatic (74mm) which I couldnt get to fit at all. There would need to be a fair bit of play in the stud posts but I'll give it another go....
cheers
Hi all,
Now that kits are available without hardware I'm just wondering where folks are getting their hardware, particularly tuneomatic bridges.
I've been looking for a bridge for my ES3 (gotoh...
Thanks Wokka,
So you think use intensifying coats on the neck? DB seems to be saying not to in the DT tutorial. Also, I'm just wondering if the neck top coat is formulated for a bit more slickness...
lol, it's a lovely name too! Sorry though, it's not a signature model for you!
Ok, I'm going with coolangatta gold for the sides, back and neck, Bondi blue for the top and headstock face.
I've done a stain coat of the coolangatta, very impressed with how easily the DT goes on....
Thanks wokka, that was my gut feeling about any levelling attempt.
I guess I'll have to hold off my decision as to whether to finish the neck in clear until I see how good a match I get.
Neck/body fit is nice and snug and the scale length looks ok.
However one side of the neck heel isn't quite straight leaving a slight gap (see pic). I'm assuming that filling the gap somehow would...
thanks for the replies, I plan on using dingotone for the headstock face and then just painting onto the top coat once it's cured. Maybe a further top coat to finish? I guess worst case scenario is...
Hi all,
Has anyone tried painting a design onto a headstock? I'm wondering if I can use a stencil and maybe those enamel modelling paints to do a rose design on my current build.
I've never seen...
Thanks fretworn, even a very simple symmetrical headstock seems to be beyond me, hence this design!
Thanks for the colour ideas guys, I'm veering towards single colour body and headstock face with...
another of the neck, hopefully showing the flame
This hollow bodied Jazz number will be my fourth pitbull build, I've been a bit slack with the diaries so far but will try to do better with this one! Naming it after my first-born and still debating...
That would be awesome mate, thanks
yeah, looking for black ones. I didnt love the ones with the kit so I binned them thinking what i wanted would be easy to source - doh!
Hi all,
Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier where i can get some vintage style (bell or witches hat kind of thing) in the 18 spline to fit the Bourns minis?
Seems to be very hard...
Hi all,
Looking at the bridge of my ES1GT kit - The slots on the saddles seem to get progressively wider from the 6th string to the 1st string. Makes it look as though it should be mounted with...
Thanks Pablo, just ordered a set.
Hi all,
I'm making a few mods to my TL1 and thought while I was at it I might see if I could source some brass bridge saddles.
Saw genuine fender ones on evil bay here:-
...
thanks guys, I forgot about the centre block and for some reason was thinking front strap button on the top horn....
Think I might take the risk of waiting till it's nearly finished before deciding...
Received my ES1 kit and it looks just awesome.
Planning on finishing in cherry with gold highlights and a vintage yellow neck with cherry headstock face.
I'm going to upgrade the electronics now...
Seriously thinking about doing this now, maybe the TL with a rosewood board, candy apple red with a pearloid guard - or go with a thinline body for something really unique...
... and I've only got...
awesome, just an extra cap plus a resistor then - now I have too many options for build ideas , lol.
Ah, but it's not a squire he wants but an Esquire. The fender Esquire is a legendary guitar and much sought after.
There's some electronic voodoo going on with them hence the 3 way switch, so I...
Thanks for all the advice guys, I think I'll start on the body for now and see how I go.
(looking out the window, waiting for postie...)
