Being trapped in my basement got me inspired to start building kits too. I've done two and am already on my third.
Depending upon how bad the chipping is you could fill them with CA and sawdust. Get a small scrap of the same kind of wood from a local supplier and make some. Gently recut the slots and insert new...
Cool. Someday I too am going to add one of these to my collection.
Unless I'm gluing up a large panel I use the one hand "quick grip" type of bar clamps squeezed pretty tight and leave it at least overnight; regardless of the joint type. In like 30 years of...
Thanks for that. It does need a tiny bit of refinement but it's a very solid base for a kit.
Next year if they are allowing scratch builds in I already have something in mind.
Well I got an Honorable Mention. I may not have made the finals but only a couple of kits did. Nearly all of them were scratch builds and most of them were quite honestly ugly.
Imaginative but...
The final video with a sound demo is uploading as I type this and should be live on my Youtube channel in a few minutes.

McCreed the neck is very similar to a Thin C and comfortable, even for a guy in the shorter side like me. Now if you like the Ultrathin C from guitars like a Schecter Hellraiser Hybrid this will feel...
It is done.
There is a saying "Go big or go home." My first kit was a 7 string I changed from a bolt on to a set neck.
A cover would give you an option for a contrasting color, name plate, or something even more interesting.
I got rid of all my big amps years ago. All I've got now is an Orange Crush 20. My wife gets upset when I go past 3.
Video 4 is uploading as I type this. I will have the 5th and final video underway this weekend. I'm not 100% sure when that will be uploaded but it has to be by the 17th.
Having never played a multi-scale I have to ask what is jarring about where the parallel fret is? Is it an issue with the fret angle in the upper or lower registers?
I tune by ear and have been doing it since like 1985. Until I bought kits all guitars I've ever owned were factory and if I ever had an intonation issue I took it in to a tech. Not a guy at a chain...
It's alive and makes noise.
I have to set the intonation then clean it for a final set of photos, but I'm done with 2 weeks to spare. I do not have an intonation meter but I downloaded an app and...
Pretty much all of the Djent guys I see using insane multi-scale guitars have slanted pickups. I have seen no test data to show any difference but I cannot believe the pickup manufacturers would be...
When you head into that world it's just different. Nothing is cheap and it's harder to find.
The kit looked cool though.
There are some forums out there specifically dedicated to 7, 8, and 9 string players and they would know what is available. While I did not look into the pickups, when I looked into multi scale...
After building a 7-string already I can say I am interested in a multi-scale but I am actually thinking about a scratch build 8-string. As they say go big or go home.
This will probably be next...
Use soft edge tape or roll the masking tape to provide a soft edge. It makes it much easier to blend.
Body; front and back
I got the body buffed as good as my buffer can do. I need a bench mounted buffer with a couple different size wheels. My 10 inch orbital is only so good; I could get an even better shine if I could...
After letting is set for several days to completely cure I sanded back the lacquer on the top and it no longer has any low spots in the non-linear grain and should polish up nicely.
I did buy a...
