Another mock-up. I routed out a big "swimming pool" underneath the scratch plate to fit a third pick-up. It makes it lighter too.
I have a little more work to do on the body before clear coating it.

Please tell me you are using clear coat and NOT Tru Oil. You wouldn't want to lose that beautiful colour.
Clear coat
Well done that looks fantastic!
Man, that is such a good looking kit, and you've really done a great job so far.
*Must resist urge to purchase*
The ash will take some serious amounts of clear to get flat - even with grain fill. I would give it a few coats and let it go really hard before blocking back almost all the way and then re clearing. That should help you avoid any sink back later on and give you a nice flat finish.
Thanks for the tip. I did use a massive amount of ebony Timbermate in the first instance. It is pretty flat, but I see your point.
I hope to give it a go this weekend.

I put a couple of coats of Gluboost onto the top to lock in the colour and flatten out the ash 100%. I am pretty happy with it. I am going to sand it back later and see what happens.

Love it. I know I've said it before, but I really like this kit and where you are going with it. It's going to be a stunning guitar.
so so blue
That looks super. Well done!
