Hi guys,
my research recently tells me Tru Oil is pretty pricey to buy in Oz.
Anyone have a good supplier for a decent price?
How far do the different sized bottles go - ie how much would be needed, to plan for building 10 guitars?

Hi H, I use roughly a 90ml bottle per guitar. This is where I buy mine. https://gcshooters.com.au/store/tru-...od-casey-90ml/ I wouldn't buy large bottles unless you are planning to finish a few guitars at the same time.
You’re welcome Colin..🤙
I read somewhere that you should store it upside down. I suppose this is so if any starts to crystallise it won’t block up the hole.
Yip, definitely store it upside down. There is a foil seal under the lid, don't peel this off. Just make a small hole. This should help the life span of the TO.
Big bottle for 10 guitars. Small bottle is usually good to 2-3 builds but storing upside down is essential. In fact, I would suggest adding another aluminium foil layer over the perforated seal and then screw the lid on for elongated periods between applications to try and slow down the internal oxidisation plus the crusty build up that tends to happen on the plastic lid.
Cheers, Waz
I also stored my last bottle of TO in a clip lock bag and pushed all of the air out of it before sealing it. It lasted a long time.
Great idea.
Anything that slows down or prevents oxidisation is the way to go.

I do 60 percent boiled linseed oil, 30 percent oil based polyurethane, 10 percent turps. I made 200 mil....120 ml linseed....60 ml poly....20 ml turps....shake. Was very thin...leave top off container for 3 hours and thickened up nicely.
