A moment of reflection, respect and gratitude.
I have my own issues as to how I ended up trying to turn the PBG kits into my own version of therapy, artwork, and instruments. I believe we all do....from the first timer to the ingrained in the blood guitar builder.
This morning I was giving the body of the Bass another buffing with a microfibre cloth, when out of the corner of my eye I caught the wiring harness I had made earlier.
Some piccies attached as reference.
From the top it looks normal. Two volume pots, one tone pot and a nice switchcraft jack socket. Turn the cardboard mount over and wow.....three push pull pots...wired in to provide coil split of the humbucker pickup.....series parallel split of the P Bass pickup...and a neck/bridge pickup presence fader.
I thought to my self. Yeah...a gumby like me made that. Well I did, with the guidance of builders from here.
I am not going to yet again name names...but I will say thank you to all of you that have, do, and will continue to, guide my hands in the building of instruments.
Thank You.....still can't believe I wired that harness.....ha ha ha....me....nah. :)

The first coat of Cabinet Makers Wax is on.
The body has hung for a little over a week now. So this morning on with the first coat of Gilly's Cabinet Makers Wax. It is applied with 0000 grade steel wool....rubbed hard in the direction of the grain. Even more so today with the air temp in single digits.
Then immediately buffed. Well that was a challenge. I found that the best coarse fabric I had at my disposal was an old white Chesty Bonds singlet. It worked great. Then once I could feel no resistance under my hand...out with the soft fluffy micro-fibre cloth.
Hang now for another day and repeat. I have stopped at four coats in the past as the wax just seemed to be pulling up wax underneath as I buffed at the level. So I will see what happens here.
I have to say that the natural oils and waxes have a much better smell than the solvent and chemical based finishes.....Nice smell on this wax this morning.....natural camphor turpentine sort of gummy smell.....you know the one. :)

Assembled save for strap locks.
Here she is all assembled except for the strap locks.
I think I have a operator error in the wiring....my soldering...I think that I am only getting one bank of magnets from the humbucker. However, the sound is very nice from the factory pickups. They are actually getting quite good now.
I need to do some research as to where I place the strap lock buttons. On both my T Bird and Firebird they had interesting placements. This one is also a lot neck divey. Wow.
This one has taken ten months....amazing.
