This has been sitting on the bench since early this year and will probably sit there a while longer as I had all the bits for the bass first so i started that.
It's kustom ordered with soapbar P90 pick up routs. So far the trem and tuners have arrived. Trying to decide on pick ups and colour now.

Finally kicked myself in the bum and got into this. Have done a black timbermate fill and sand and blue ink stain. I've tried a silicone liquid mask again on the binding, see how it goes. Will do the black burst next, then the frets, then glue the neck in.

Well, the silicone is easier to apply I guess. it defiantly seals the edges, is easy to get off. Overall, slightly better than tape in my opinion.
I used this one as I had it on hand for my scale modelling.

yea for the F holes I used a really small brush 02 size, you can just rub the stuff off with your finger tip afterwards

And done! Still has chinese strings while the neck settles, then I'll put on something better and set the intonation but she sounds great, nice and twangy with the Tone Rider Rebel 90's. I used 500k pots and a .47 cap and a treble bleed so it does sound quite dark, ....just the way I like it :D. The Duesenburg Les Trem is the second one I've fitted to a build and I love them, so light to the touch.
I'm calling this the P90RS and I'll do better and more pics outside when it isn't so freaking hot.

The cap value only really makes a difference when you turn the tone control down a bit. Any slight difference it will make with the tone control right up is a very small fraction of a decibel at higher frequencies, so basically inaudible. With 500k pots, if it sounds dark, then it will be down to the pickups themselves and the guitar's construction rather than the choice of tone cap.

I actually made an error in my post, the pots are 250k, the cap was correct at .047. Generally I leave the tone pot around the middle and never touch it
Perfect, that's what most manufactures recommend for their P90 pups. Pretty much treat em as per any other single coil.
500k is the standard P90 pot value, so 250k will make them a bit darker. And 250k will already have an effect on the tone as there's less resistance between the capacitor and the signal before you even start to turn the pot down. So yes, I understand now that it will sound darker than normal.
