They're here both kits but i will start with this the TL-12S.
I have to admit i was expecting a lilt booklet with instructions, when i realised that ain't happening. I think I s--- my self.
First thing first i need to set up a space to go back & forth from.

I'm sure others can direct you to a link showing exactly how to check neck to routing and how to correct any error. If I don't see any help by this time tomorrow I'll in my long-winded clumsy way tell how I did it.

Today I spent the day cleaning to get some space so I can work on this beast. I have opened the box to look at all the bits but no assembly. Finally did my mock up build all bits accounted for. So neck fits tight, not super tight but good (like i know). I'm still feeling a bit reluctant to drill anything yet! Is it a simple case of trust the pocket drill & bolt the neck on?? What size drill bit for the pilot hole? The body has holes so what's my straight edge blah blah blah. can ya tell i have no idea.

That is a bar style string retainer, it goes on the headstock in between the nut and the tuners. I'm more used to seeing them on guitars with Floyd Rose bridges and locking tuners, but I imagine on a 12-string guitar it will help with tuning stabilityQuote:

String retainers are often on FR and other floating bridges to stop the strings popping off the nut on wild bends... on that 12 string, though, all I see is another friction point where you least want one?!?
1) This is where I'm at after bit more fluffing around. Not confident with the pick guard. Can it be reshaped? what Tools?
I think if i can shave a bit of at the the neck & where it meets the control plate I may use it (I still like what cork sniffer has done)

2) the stings look ok down the neck I'm leaning towards moving the bridge 2mm towards the low E string??

3) If i do move it a few mm will it impact on the stringing up via the through holes on the body?? its only 2mm?? is it even worth doing it for that amount?

4) And then there is these holes that I didn't put there? I noticed these as i was lining up the bridge which seems ok? the PU is up against the cavity wall. One of the reasons I'm leaning towards moving the bridge 2mm??

Yhep the pickguard always needs a bit of tweaking on the Tele. I just use my sanding tool on the dremel.

I usually shape the half semi-circle for the control plate first. take a little bit off, then check, take a little bit off, then check
What happens is the whole pickguard can then come downwards on the right side a bit which fixes the issue on the horn side and makes it parallel with your bridge.
Then it will stick out in the neck pocket. at that stage, if I'm happy with the placement, I will drill the holes fit the pickguard and use the dremel to sand the pickguard out of the neck pocket.
Just one way of doing it.
Still a bit reluctant to start so been looking for a way to practice stuff when I remembered a had an old strat copy that was given to me years ago. I remember stripping it for some parts to help out a mate. The neck was all twisted. I kept the body incase I wanted to fix it, never happened. went looking for it, found it thought this is a waste of time anyway start sanding it & its ply!! not only that, at some point it's been worked on before, a few times. It was black when i got it, turns out it was a candy red & originally a clear varnish? the body shape has been well sanded never notice it. its been a great little step forward testing my patience building this wreak. its playing but i think the frets need to be levelled the intonation seems ok but some notes don't sound right. I've named it the "F---'N Disaster" so many things went wrong & i was told to take it slow now i know why.

There's gotta be how many million strats out there? That is truly one of kind, in the best possible way. Mistakes or not, that's a very cool instrument.
What’s the best way to nock the frets in to the neck? Some of them are up by a bees dick. I’m hoping I could tap em in to the finger board with out to much work. [emoji1374][emoji1374][emoji1374][emoji1374]

If you’ve no other option, take an inch wide x1/4” hardwood scrap, take a claw hammer and line the fret up with the hardwood width wise and give it a few persuasion taps.
I don’t have any fret tool/ files etc. but I’ve picked it up when I was doing the intonation. I don’t even have a rocker!!!! Was just playing all the notes up & down the neck. Some buzz, sustain was out & some notes out of pitch I think is the word??Quote:
