Hey! Ho! Lets go!
Look forward to seeing how this plays out Oli.
What’s the MKA-2 kit based on?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's based on a Mosrite Ventures Mk II, here's a bit of background, albeit from a company selling knockoffs - https://eastwoodguitars.com/blogs/ne...te-to-sidejack
I’ve been over the forum for a few days and can not find anything on a bleached floor board type finish?
Does anyone know how to achieve something like this???

Not exactly the same but this was my grain popping phase.
Stained with jarrah and sanded it back. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...51c82a9528.jpg
If you can find something a bit greyer then it may achieve what you want to do.
Yours is also ash which will look a lot nicer than mine which is a basswood body
Hey OliSam
It sounds like you're trying to achieve a whitewash finish, here's a video that might help:

Also, to give your grain that grey-ish colour, I suggest filling using something dark like ebony Timber Mate, sanding it back and then whitewashing overtop. Hope this helps!

Nice work on the headstock shape man !!
Mine has come to a complete halt. I'm about ready to start proper sanding but just can't get around to doing it.
I know what you mean.
I’m just researching and taking my time at the moment.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...05fd84a74e.jpgI just bought grain filler and a tin of this stuff.

Contemplating finishes and using a sheet of ply to test.
Not the same as the ash of the guitar body. But at least it is a test - of sorts.....

Deep down we all aspire to be like Johnny Bravo.Attachment 29787
Did I say I was going to make this a bleach white guitar?
Diluted Japan black won over. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4b5d681ae2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4f8954ff57.jpg

now I want a green Johnny Bravo signature series one.
What is the translation?
That’s a long tongue in cheek story. However short story is I wanted to translate the motto of “greatness is ours” into Latin so it sounded cool.
Google translate gave me that sentence.
Is it correct ?
Who knows.
But i think it looks cool.

Another coat of Tung Oil on the neck to seal in the water slides
I think I’ll let the whole thing rest for a week or so now.

I decided that the Japan black wasn’t working for me so I sanded back the front and back and put on a ton of mahogany stain so that it was a very deep crimson and black grain.
I’m quite chuffed with the result.

Agreed, that looks awesome.
That’s working for me too.

Just a little bit further tonight.
Polished the body and hammered the bridge and stop tail in.
