Hi from Coffs Harbour!
Just recieved my JBA-4 kit with a rosewood neck. will be changing the pots to a CTS blend knob, a master tone and a master volume.
planning to handpaint the body blue and purple swirl, clear coat, and also do the same to the headstock.
Pondering ordering some entwhistle PUPS, probably just the ceramics.
Will likely have many questions ahah

Welcome Adie - good to see someone from the land of the Big Banana!

Welcome to the forum Adie. I think Wazkelly posted a video a while back comparing the stock PUPs and Entwistle bass pups, maybe have a look for those or send him a PM

Welcome to the forum! You live in a nice part of the world - I used to go up there a bit when I had friends from school studying up there, but sadly they all moved away and now it's just a bit too far for a quick holiday.

Welcome aboard. I grew up in Armidale and Coffs was our summer holiday destination for many years. Couldn't believe how much it had changed when I went back recently.

Hey all, sorry! I havent been too active!
more or less followed the instruction guide, used twine to line up the neck and bridge placement, but honestly the neck was so tight in the pocket there was no room for movement without sanding.
I've just finished the build, ended up painting it purple then light blue. relicing back some parts to expose the purple. I used two cans of dulux spray paint from bunnings and then a can of white knight clear acrylic. sanding regularly with 600 grit paper.
I had a couple of small issues, like the replacement bone nut was a lil small for the width of the jba4 neck, but didnt end up mattering much. also the neck bolt holes in the body were uneven, like a crooked rectangle. but with some fiddling they still fit in through the neck plate holes.
Other than that there were no real issues, just plenty of time and a relaxing first build.
I'll post some pictures tomorrow! plays amazingly with stock everything, although I replaced the pots with some CTS 250ks from Realparts and put in a bourns blend pot between the two PUPS. oh and a sprague 47 orange drop.
Thinking of either a strat or jazzmaster next. would be nice to make the jazzmaster with the dual circuit design, dont think the pitbulls come with that stock
I stained the neck with feast and watson golden teak stain. it looks amazing, nice a vintage custom shop style. polished with some 0000 steal wool for even polishing around the neck, that works really well. also didnt use a grain filler, i really like the visible grain, especially on the back, its a subtle reminder than the guitar is actually made of wood lol.
Heres a lil video of me doodling around after I set up the intonation.
