Interesting fret markers. Going gothic on this one?
That flame top should come up real purdy!
Nice one Andy, it had caught my eye too.
From memory I think you were the one who posted something like this in the beautiful guitar thread a while back....

Is this what you have in mind? The Harley Benton has smaller crosses for fret markers but tend to reckon they will look ok with the right colour combo.
Thats right Waz. Thats the one. but I am wrestling with the stain colours...still havent decided
This will be (again) an awesome build!
Various shades of one colour would be my choice... either Orange or Blue... Pale Orange is difficult so I'd probably go pale to dark Blue burst in high gloss...
Got some DT Bondi blue....
Anyone know how i would achieve a PRS Whale blue style with it?

The back of my es2v was pretty close to that if you wereto sand the stain back a bit it would be pretty closeAttachment 23779
Thanks Barnsey.

Love the veneer, but those fretboard inlays disturb me greatly... too much.
Haven't been game to try a veneer yet...
Who did you get the veneer sheet through?
Very nice andy, i did notice this kit is no longer on the site, it looks like a nice build
Damn you are right Barnsey, which i why i did not hesitate to grab it, i've learned that hard lesson before.
Nice veneer
Am thinking of a veneer for my build.
Marquetry pack would be good value, but I risk not getting one dark enough.
Hey andy was going through some old photo's bondi blue no ebony timbermate, and wAttachment 23853ith ebony timbermate Attachment 23850
Big differense in colour only the timbermate underneath, both are basewood bodies
Update. Finally. After checking and checking with gum turpentine, I believed there were no glue spots. It wasn't till I applied the ebony timber mate that I realised I was wrong. Oh well out with the good off!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4fd7318e3f.jpg

Really nice figure on that top Andy and that colour will really pop.
Yeah, it’s gunna look sweet
Build looking great, and...I personally find those fret markers rather attractive! cause its remiding me to re-visit my youth with some early Tony Iommi magic.

That's a really nice looking veneer.
Ahhh, the dreaded glue spots.
Makes you wonder if they use a 1" brush when applying the stuff as in the tight spaces they could do a better job with a smaller brush.
Good to see you now have it sorted.
Cheers, Waz
Looks really nice andy, grain is looking great
Andy, off topic a bit, but I really love that red on your guitar of the month entry Stratocaster. Can you tell me what the color is called..?
Mark
Thanks Mark, it was a custom Dingotone colour of "Rosewood". I asked Dingobass to mix it up for me to go on an Pitbull Ash body
I think thats the one you are talking about?
I did a tele in the same colour, the only difference is that I put neutral timbermate on the tele and ebony timbermate on the Strat.
No worries Mark. sorry about that. Just remember to steer away from furniture stains....they are very lacklustre on guitars. Dingotone is an oil based dye, but you can still achieve great results with colourtone dyes which are water based dyes.
Reminds me to do an update. This is after two stainless coats of Bondi blue and colourless on that sides and backhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...20a4d96274.jpg

That looks very nice
Hi Andy, that looks amazing. I'm just about to start my first kit, so please excuse my ignorance, but what does timbermate do? is it like a sanding sealer? thanks
Yhep Adamc. Timbermate is a waterbased wood putty used for grain filling. You can buy it from Bunnings (if you are in Australia). It comes with an array of tinting, I used ebony timbermate on this build which pops the grain with a grey and black filler.
Thanks Andy. I live in Melbourne mate, so a trip to Bunnings is in order. Cheers for the advice mate.
Hey Andy, do you have a faded pair of jeans or denim jacket to wear with this axe?
Looking really nice Andy [emoji106]
lol @ Waz. I think I need to find some cross necklaces as well
Thanks Grubsta
