Hi from Colinton

Hi there, I'm Bill from Colinton, NSW, about half way between Canberra and Cooma. It's a lovely spot, I'll post a postcard soon.

I'm a rather average bass player, but really enjoy it, and have never tried woodwork - so lets build a bass :)
I'm going with a jazz bass, JBA-4 as I've already got solid old P and a modern double humbucker. My kit arrived this afternoon and I'M EXCITED! I'm really looking forward to working on it, and will be asking a lot of questions of you all - this forum seems like a very well run, helpful group, which is good because I think I'm going to need a lot of help.

I'll start a build thread shortly, & i'll post photos of my dogs too.

Anyway, all the best and here's to sandpaper!

Welcome to the forum Bill! This is a great kit and a few of us have built / are in the process of building JB kits, so fire away with the questions! Sanding, hmmm you'll grow to love it once you see the results of a sanding job well done cheers

Bill - great bass to start with - hopefully it goes well - any issues, stop what you're doing, take a photo, make a post, have a drink and hopefully you should have a response.

Colinton is in a great area - there are a couple of ex Canberrites here in Perth that are on the forum. That said, Perth is obviously better ;).

Welcome Bill, I have to agree southern NSW is a delightful area. I visited Cooma quite a few time in my younger days, I always loved driving down there.

I've never managed to get all the way across to Perth/WA, but really should at some stage. It won;t be as nice as here but sounds pretty bloody good, except for that absurd AFL thing ;)
There are definitely some beautiful spots in the mountains around here Fretworn, and only just over an hour to the coast the other way. The only problem with driving locally is the idiots who drive the Monaro Hwy to the snow during snow season. True numpties!

I agree about the aerial ping pong. Bring on union any day - pity that the Force are a spent one and on a good day are average.

Debman - thanks for the welcome - & your artwork in the 'other talents' thread is brilliant!

Brendan/ FrankenWashie - I grew up playing the game they play in heaven (prop until I grew a neck, then I became a breakaway) but went right off the game when they started messing around so badly with the laws of the game. I'm now more of a leaguie, yeah I know it's a thugs game but I was a prop remember :) I still catch the occasional Brumbies game though.

BillB I am currently fighting the pre season battle, My rugby Club says "Come back to pre-season, we need a couple o good props" I say, I am RETIRED!! And my right ankle no longer works properly. It doesn't seem to dissuade them.
And props are not thugs, we are simply masters of a dark art known to few, and feared by the weak, callow and foppish. You know them, they're called backs.

Im lucky I'm old enough to remember super 12, and as far back as the first three seasons of super 10 because thats how far back you have to look for Auckland Glory. :(

backs, backs, hmmmmmm. I think I remember them. Used to hang around after the game and see who could tell the biggest lie?

As a kid I played lock. Never been normal since ;).
