Wokka's Johnny Ramone Mosrite build

G'day all, this has been my slowest build ever, started July 2014 ! Thought it was time to pull my finger out and polish and assemble it. I probably started a build diary ages ago but easier to start a new one. Spent about 3 hours yesterday with micro mesh pads and polishing and fret levelling and steel wooliing the fingerboard. Found a 12k ohm single Seymour Duncan pup for the bridge and the stock neck mini bucker is over 10k ohm. Left the plastic on the pickguard as I have to turn it over and complete the wiring. Neck had no play in the pocket and strings and TOM fittings lined up well. Think I have to drop the nut slots as the strings don't touch the zero fret yet. Here's some pics from assembly lastnight

here's some pics of the headstock, glued blackheart sassafras veneer to it. Hope to finish the wiring this arvo and make some noise !

At least the finish will certainly have hardened by now so it should polish up really nicely! 1-2-3-4D!

haha Simon, I will just find the fattest sound I can get for the demo. Here's some finished pics strung up. Got an earthing issue I have to sort out, I forgot to earth the tone pot I think is the issue.

haha cheers Gav, keen to sort out the wiring and get it playing well. Did you find you had to lower the nut slots on yours so the strings touch the zero fret ? At the moment I think my nut slots need to be lower

Yeah I basically just lowered the slots til they touched. I wasn't very sure how to set the nut end up TBH. I didn't file the 0th fret at all either. I probably should have ;).

no worries Gav, I might even take the nut out and sand the bottom, Will eventually make a bone nut for it
