Sneak peek at a build I havd been veeeeeery slowly putting together.
Ohhh yummy
That looks awesome DB, so what is it going to become?
looks awesome, I think it's going to have 2 more strings than his usual builds...
From my limited wood knowledge.
Looks like Queensland Maple sides, and some Burred Blackwood ? Top.
Going to be a semi Bass, judging by the thickness
Please tell me the Blue tapering around the edges is some fancy tape, and not Binding.
It could simply be an ornate cricket bat.
That's Nice!!
Blackwood body, Myrtle burl top?
Dingo shaped sound hole pending?
Tony wins!
Blackwood back and sides, myrtle burl top semi acoustic/electric hybrid multiscale mind bending 6 stringer...
Why?
Because I choose to.
Over building boring clones of other guitars.
And yes, red and blue binding... I know, red and blue shouldn't work together but I have an annoying habit of mixing colours that shouldnt work together... Used to drive my teachers mental at Art School every time I pulled that off....
Just wait and see, it will all come together in the end :D
Oh, as a side note, I have already had three offers on this build with one guy saying shut up and take my money as he tried to stuff a nice fat roll of big green coloured notes in my shirt pocket...
Just add some white pearloid binding and call it the Trump!
Fretboard madness and binding adjustment..
Wow! (No need for 10 chars)
Just lovely, good move on the binding, looks much better.
Fanned frets eh?
Fretz in, now to fill the holes with epoxy.....
DB said the E word...
Bwahahahahaaaaaaa.... yep... the only time I will ever use it is for this type of job.
Western systems stuff, formulated for timber.
I figure if my good friend Rick Turner (founding father of Alembic Guitars, and all round Guru of Luthiery) recommends and uses it, it is good enough for little ole me :D
DB you should try and get some of that glow in the dark epoxy would look pretty cool !
Have got some luminous powder... might drop some into the finer cracks.
Hi Simon, if you dig deep enough you will find one of DB's builds that has fibre optics in the fret board. It looks super cool and I'm sure he could weave a bit more creative genius magic with illuminous dust too. Would be a great idea for fret dot markers.
Hi DB, any hints on where this stuff can be sourced and also how pricey it might be? Have another project happening in the new year and yet to formulate final finish plans, and it does involve a maple fret board that probably has the standard black plastic dot markers.
Wish I knew about the stuff when doing my Fretless conversion, it would have been perfect as a filler for the lines left behind after removing speed bumps.
