Looks lovely, but without a bolt-on neck, it's obviously going to sound a bit different to a standard Tele. But I'm sure you can live with that. :D
Given that the kit has a bolt on neck that will be an unavoidable variation unless I go down the scratchie route some time in the future
Ah, so similar, but not that exact guitar. I understand.
Phwoar, looks good DK, verrrry tempting
It's the Merle Haggard custom shop signature model.
I played a set neck Tele in Hawaii and wasn't all that impressed but a lot of that was due to the setup and lack of interest shown by the shop owner who wanted to sell me a $4K uke rather than a $700 Tele ( the only two electrics in the shop were the Tele and a Shobud Maverick pedal steel plus a Princeton & small Vox amp, played through the Vox )
I don't feel that the set neck added anything to the sound or made that much difference to the upper frets and I don't often get above the 15th fret anyway
My daughter asked me what I wanted for birthday / christmas as they are only a few days apart and I suggested she and her brothers make a contribution to curing the itch.
I'll have a talk to Mr Watkins about a set of Texas Specials to put in it in place of the standard offering
Happy daze :)
Now that sounds like a great gift idea.
Yeah Waz it was good to be given the opportunity to let them spoil me, much better than beer or a few bottles of good red
And way better then socks, jocks or other clothes as that seems to be an easy soft option for most kids.
The kids are all comfortably over 30 so are unlikely to go the socks & jocks route.
That's good to hear.
My eldest son surprised me with a pair of decent seated tickets to see Guns n Roses when they tour here in Feb 2017 for the last Father's Day present. Hopefully he will be able to come along. Not sure how he will manage as he currently lives and works in New Plymouth NZ (North Island). If he can't make it I guess his younger brother who lives here on the Sunny Coast might have to take his place.
