First Build ST-1M
Hey guys, First order has been placed now to sit back and wait for the kit.
basically building the kit I was talking about in my welcome thread:
ST-1M
Babicz FCH Strat tremelo
Chrome Grover minilocking headstocks
Tonerider - City Limits pickups
Upgraded switch, pots, Cap, wiring and fidelity upgrade
Have vetoed plans for reverse headstock for this build, start simple and all.
Going to be a very basic flat colour job with head plate logo and tinkering with an epoxy inlay for the pickguard.
Will post photos as they come.

Delivery slated for today. Thumbs are twiddling.
Aaaand It's arrived!
So I was waiting to see what the grain was like to see if I would go with paint or a stain. The body looks like its been cut out of a block on an angle, as in the jointing lines don't run parallel to the neck.
As a result I will be going with paint. I have a compressor and airbrush etc so now to troll through the forums and work out which paint to use. Looking for a burnt orange to red colour.
I realised two mistakes I made in my order.
1. I accidentally added 2 5 way switches to the order........spare for later
2. I must of misread the wiring diagram as I only ordered 1 capacitor and there are 2 on the pre installed set up.
Photos to follow

Yeah you need two caps. You can always use one of the green polyester ones until you get a new orange drop cap, but then again you'll order and get the other orange cap before you get wiring anyways.
You should also consider doing a resistor/capacitor to stop treble bleed on the volume pot. I put them on all my builds now.
eagerly awaiting the photos.

So, here are a couple to get started. Unfortunately due to the weather I won't be going out to the shed any time this week. I just get to stare I guess. Also fitted the neck in and can pick it up without falling apart. Good times.

A close up of the body. It didn't really translate to the picture very well the angle on the joins

The best thing about the bad weather is I am stuck inside messing around with scales and chords in the hope that once I've finished the kit I may be able to actually play it a little

Great to see - hope it goes well...

You only need one cap on a Strat if you're using a traditional layout and are happy with the same cap value for each tone pot... something like this. Both tone pots share the same filter cap as the path to ground. So, you can stick with one if you want.

The Basswood grain looks pretty normal to me. I don;t think i could help myself...id put the guitar together "bare" and play it till the rain stopped!
