The answer...not much! The speaker was a no name 8inch with a magnet smaller than my stereo speakers. But then you don't expect a lot for $200
So this is going to become a head...mostly for headphone use, but it can plug into a cab.

Sounds like a fun project!
Looking forward to seeing what you do with the housing for it!
I predict some Dedman black goodness...
possible LOL I was going to do it today but it's pouring rain and I don't feel like driving to either green or blue sheds for timber
What is inside a Vox VTX20 Amp?
Looks like there is a lot more than what's inside a Fender Mustang 1.
I have stuck the little Fender through an 8 ohm 4x10 quad box and it sounds massive ( well as massive as a 20W amp can :) )
If you are going to use it as a headphone amp do you need to worry about speaker load.
as far as I know plugging headphones in disconnects the speaker output circut
Sounds like a cool little project, let me know if you need any help mate.
I'm currently doing some mods on a mate's Peavey Triumph valve guitar amp, I need to change-out some components in order to do the mods.
I'm assuming that the Vox VTX20 is a solid-state amp, so in that case you shouldn't have any major issues with speaker loads because solid-state amps are a bit more forgiving than valve amps, which need to be connected-up to the correct speaker loads in order to work properly.
the original speaker was 5 ohms, can't see a prob plugging it into an 8ohm except a little volume loss and I've never had it any where near max volume as it was. The only valve is allegedly on the pre-amp side, although it's probably just there to light up and look all retro LOL
Yep, I reckon it should work with no major problems, the 8 Ohm Speaker is going to present a lighter load to the amp than that 5 Ohm speaker would, the amp may even run a bit cooler as a consequence, you may not notice much of a drop in volume if the 8 Ohm speaker is an efficient one, you might notice a better overall sound though.
and so we have a VOX VTX20 head :)
Sounds great through the bigger cab

Looks brilliant! What's the wood you used and the finish? And any more shots from other angles (not that I'm a cab rehousing junkie or anything!)?
That Vox VTX 20 Head looks cool sitting on the speaker cab, have you given it a test run yet?, if so, how does she sound?
great work Dedman, look amazing, and that cool Deddy look, nice job man
to answer Chuck, it's left over ply top, bottom. front and back, and some pine on the sides. All scrap from other projects.
