Number Plate Guitar
I recall seeing a forum thread about a number plate guitar. I've just found this tin plate in my storage. I may turn into an axe and quite ironically it won't be 'Top Gear'

nice one Ponch, it was one of Kimball's recording software plug in threads earlier this week that the topic radically changed. Cool plate man. All I've been thinking all week is the design of the numberplate axe. I'm going to go a pine solid body so I can mount a F type 6 string neck. My buddy Wayne is planning a plywood made box and 4 string CBG style neck.
Look forward to your build diary Ponch !
Had a look on Ebay and can get US plates posted for about $12-14 each

Nice one Woks. I was thinking similar with a bolt in f type neck &. single humbucker coil split with a tele bridge (no pup style)

been a productive last 24 hours, managed to buy the materials, glued the body, routed neck pocket and mini humbucker cavities, cut the plate to suit, just going one volume push pull coil split on the mini bucker. Here's some progress pics

so some more pics, its since had a coat of primer and metallic blue paint to match the blue of the WA plate.
It's basically a 1980's Volvo shape design a square box !

So if you got a hollow body kit and replaced the soundboard with numberplates welded together to form a skin, would that be classed as a resonator?
-
Cheers fellas.
@ Simon got the neck from Ads.Was a spare he had lying around. It's from a PBG-1. One of the Andrews on the forum just entered one in GOTM.
@ Rabz it wouldn't be a resonator as they have a cone below the cover needs many holes in it

here's pics after first colour coat, haven't decided on the final shade of blue but will wet sand and get another coat on today. Headstock needs sanding back was the end of a can of a darker blue and wasn't spraying too well.
The plywood box at the bottom of the body pics is for Wayne's CBG style number plate axe in progress
