Doesn't have any measurements that i can see?
What measurements are you wanting Sheven? Sounds like your looking for plans....the site Gav recommended to you did it not have what you were after?:
i don't think so but it's still a resourceful link.
Yeah i'm more after how to shape the body and how long and across it needs to be.. if you understand?
Regards Sheven
Have a look at my attachment. It has a 10mm reference....
Ah didn't see that! yeah if i could print out a life size version then trace it? That could work?
Beware that many pdf's are not to scale and you may need to play around with image size when printing.
So at this stage i'm going to buy a slab of wood... any suggestions?
Hi Sheven, have a search for local timber suppliers will save you postage will cost a bit. I'd google timber suppliers in your area or have a look on Yellow Pages
Let us know what type of timbers are available and a one piece will be a good option if you can find a slab big enough. At a guess you will need at least 500mm long and about 350mm wide. Those Mustangs look long
The problem i have is trying to work out how big it is... i can use the schools laser printer... but i have no idea on size...
Sheven,
I had the same problem trying to find dimensions of the Jazzmaster, not much free information on the internet.
If you are serious about a Mustang scratch build you may have to shell out for a scaled/dimensioned plan from Australian Luthier Supplies are $29.50
http://luthierssupplies.com.au/produ...oducts_id=1724
So this has all the size i need? to build the body?
sure has Sheven, on the link I posted there is a small image you can expand (but too small to read)
it is a full 1:1 scale A1 size drawing fully dimensioned.
I've seen some of these plans at DB's and being a draftsperson for about 25 years they are good plans
When you print out the file Wokka is referring to, you will notice a 10mm reference square on the document.
If your printed copy has a square that is 10mm x 10mm, it is correct.
If its smaller, you need to enlarge it proportionally. If it's larger you need to reduce it.
Here's a thought, and it's just a thought. Maybe you could save the pdf file to a thumb drive, take it to Office Works and get them to print it onto an A2 sheet.
Hey all no need for big printers and big paper. This website, in Deustche, is where I get my plans from: http://www.gitarrebassbau.de/viewtop...10&t=6&start=0
What you'll need is a program called Inkscape https://inkscape.org/en/. Import the pdf into Inkscape and just print off as an A4 paper. Make sure to print overlapping pages and then combine them together. I usually do it on my window because the light coming in allows me to check if the lines are in line.
This guy explains it really well: https://damacleod.wordpress.com/2011...mplate-part-1/
Hope this helps.
Think I've seen that site before Simon, I could only see a similar pdf of the Mustang with a 10mm block to scale the drawing. No dimensions. There looked to be more plans on the Jazzmaster and Jagstang
Is there a mustang on there?? I can't read German
Sheven there is a translate option, well there should be
scroll down to just past halfway down the page are all the Fender models. As I said in my post above I could only see a clearer version of the pdf you already have with the 10mm block as the scale marker
Sheven just ctrl+f "mustang".
