Hi Tadeo,
welcome to the forum. Resize the pics to less than 1500 x 1500 resolution and under 1MB in size and try uploading again.
Dads not so good on computers. Done thanks
well done Tadeo, never seen a bigger smile from someone sanding.
Tell us a bit about the build please, is it a 3/4 scale junior ST-1 kit with maple neck ? I counted the frets and there's 20 so I think that's the model
I like your attitude Mum will do some sanding when she gets home !
Looking good so far....the guitar, that is.
Welcome to the forum Tadeo. Like your work in outsourcing the sanding job to your mother!
welcome mate, enjoy. looks like a strat, great choice
Tadeo - do you really want your mums arms to be stronger than yours? Sanding gives you great strength young man! I am looking forwards to seeing the progress you make on your guitar.
I think you might be the youngest to finish a PBG guitar!
Welcome Tadao, great to see you loving guitars at such an early age. You will thoroughly enjoy the build.Don't let Mum and Dad do all the work though. I think we are all looking forward to seeing what guitar you have, and what your going to do with it. Have fun and ask lots of questions.
Welcome aboard, Tadeo
Man, I wish I had started building at 10 years old....
Glad to see that you have read my sanding instructions, young man :p
Looks good Tadeo should be a very cool build. Keep sanding it yourself, as Gavin said you gain lots of strength from sanding.
I also wish I started at 10 and not 15!
Well done Tadeo. I don't think I even knew what a guitar was when I was 10, let alone have the ambition to build one.
Keep this up young man and you will be looking at taking over from Dingobass as our resident luthier.
Have fun building your guitar and don't rush, that's when you can make mistakes.
Very cool and what a great together project!
Welcome Tadeo!
Thanks for the encouragement. It's a jb-4m Bass. I don't have one yet. Making good progress.
How do I treat my fret board? Doing the head and neck in dingotone but don't know how or what to treat the fret board if at all.
There are a few options.
Dingotone Guitar wax, (my fave)
Or Dr Ducks axe wax, easy to use and it does a great job.
Well done Tadeo I'm impressed you know all the names of the kit parts. Keep up the good work. Jazz bass are a cool kit to build. Rock on
Mums super strong she's won an ausralian karate title last year and I only won a state title. So no chance yet of beating her yet Gav.
well done Tadeo on a state title that is excellent.
Sounds like your Mum is not worth messing with ! If she is strong she will be really good at sanding hahah
Attachment 5771Now to cut out the head shape.
looks good Tadeo, have you got a photo of the whole headstock ?
make sure you cut at least 1-2mm on the WASTE side of the line, then files and sandpaper you should get the final shape nice, smooth and rounded
Attachment 6111dingo tone has arrived
Attachment 6112Dad has shaped the head also.
Looking great!
Trying to find advice on sheilding. Any videos I can watch?
Thanks Brendan.

Hey Tadeo,
Here are a few pics showing how it done :)
Pretty straightforward. Cut off strips with some scissors - take your time and make sure that you have a good coverage - just needs to be one layer - overlap edges of each of the strips so that you get connectivity between strips. Overlap the edges of the cavity slightly as well so that when you shield the cover you get connectivity. DB likes to put a line of solder along the edges to ensure that he has complete conductivity - I use a multimeter to check that I have conductivity at a couple of points. Given you are looking for a faraday's cage effect, it shouldn't matter if there is a small gap somewhere.
Be careful though - the edges are very sharp and it's easy to give yourself a nick.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the advice
Nice work Tadeo (And dad). Looking great so far!
Do I shield both pickups?
It is a good idea to shield both.
great work, this is coming along well
The second one is not covered by a pick guard so would like some advice on how to get it looking good. Also any other upgrades that can be recommended?
Hi Tadeo nice progress the build coming along nicely. With the pickup cavity with no pickguard just copper shield the cavity to near the top but put the pickup in place to see how it looks. If there is too much copper visible then trim it back lower.
Popular upgrades for a JB would be a bone nut, bridge, tuners and pickups and active preamp but depends on your budget which I presume your Dad is helping you out
Attachment 6185 A little off topic but dad and I just put our first coat of clear dingo tone on this 70 year old banjo we are restoring. Had to show it of as we think it looks great.
looks great Tadeo looks like there's some flame maple there !
Can you please post an overall of the banjo, that is mega old !
Any idea what other woods?
