Hi all,
New here, dived right in though and have an RC1 sitting in the shed waiting for the weekend. Also have a GR1 on the way, not sure which one to start on first 😊

welcome Danglez,
I'd start on the build that the finish will cure better in a bloody cold place !
Start a build diary and ask lots of questions and let us know your plans.
2 very nice kits you are starting
Welcome to the forum.
both nice choices Danglez, welcome
Welcome to the crazy ranch :)
Hope you are enjoying Canberra's delightful weather.. I lived there for 15 years, beautiful city but the most crappest weather!!!
It will be slow going, I spend half my work time in NZ, I must be a glotton for crappy weather. Was going to do a clear/stain finish on the RC1 but the patch of filler probably won't take the Dingo finish too well. Might have to build the big girl with the thin skin and go solid on the RC.
Welcome Danglez
Hi, Thanks everyone. Whelp, the GR arrived today.Beeeutiful. Has some laminate missing/lifting fromthe neck pocket but other than that awesome. Will try and upload pics in a bit. Thinking it's ok.

What do y'all think, fixable?
definitely
get some glue in behind the lifted laminate and put a clamp with one end on the fix and the other in the pup route area to put direct pressure on it.
Alternatively to a clamp, wrap tape around from the top bout , over the repair and into the neck pocket.
Just find a way to put decent, even pressure over the area until the glue dries (titebond is perfect).
You may need to sand any over spill from the repair if it gets onto the top surface - if you do, go easy the timber can be thin
Welcome Danglez. And what Stan said. Lol.
Thanks guys,
Well the GR is going great. Fixed the laminate issues and am onto intensifying coat. Will get some pics up soon.
The RC on the other hand.... I'm having issues getting a decent coat of black on it. Hand sanding is therapeutic though right?
Practising my soldering and getting ready for the fun parts :-)
Cheers and beers,
Dan

I should move to a build diary
good stuff Danglez. that lifted laminate will actually be covered by the offset shape of the neck heel.
GR looking sensational. Solid paint is hard work in cold weather, you might have to wait 2-3 months for Canberra to rise above 10 degrees mate !
You might be right there Wokkaboy..
I bought the primer and a can of black from one shed and it went on great, Then I was at the other coloured one and bought some different black and my problems haven’t stopped since then... Anyhoo.. Head over to my BD for more :-)
