very cool . what a beast!
wow Steve love the progress looks very nice !
that basswood looks dark, maybe you wiped it down before the pics.
The central cavity looks a bit different shape to mine, I have more square ends, yours are round. The rest looks very similar.
Keep going with the coats, should darken up nicely.
Great looking kit you scored.
How are the necks nice and tight in the cavities ?
Thanks guy's! Yeah wokkaboy, I was actually quite surprised how snug the necks did fit into the cavities. I wasn't expecting much for what I paid for this kit, not sure if I just got lucky or not. But I'm having such a blast building that now my 26 year old son has ordered an FV-1g kit and is doing it Emerald Isles green. Lol! We have 14 guitars between us already but these we will have built ourselves. That's different. I guess we're just Guitarded? Will add more pics as the build progresses. Cheers!
nice, what a beast

She's coming along. Will update as work progresses.
Wow I'm into this, I did one of these in blue for my first build. Keep to watch this thread! Coming along very nicely by the way!
awesome, you could survive the zombie apocalypse with that axe!
colour looking nice and deep Steve, you must be very happy with progress and how its looking.
Assume you are onto clear coats now ?
Thanks Ben!
LOL! I would hope so Stan!
Will probably be starting the clear coats after our July 4th holiday Wokkaboy. And yeah, I am digging the deep red man. Thanks.
Steve, that looks really nice! Loving the depth of the red!
Thanks, keloooe! The light isn't great in these pics, the colour may actually be a shade lighter. When I get her all set up I will take some pics in natural light and post them on the completed guitar thread. I just wanted to share my progress because you guy's have made my head HUGE! lol. Thanks, I needed that.
Oh, and if anyone could explain to me how to add an avatar I'd appreciate it. Heh heh.
Hi Steve ,Guitars looking great nice colour choice . Ref Avatar from what I can remember sign in go to top of screen, click settings
Then edit avatar left side

Thank's kimball. I guess the image I want to use is just too large. But I won't give up! lol.
Hey Steve, here's how you add an avatar:

Thank you Stan, that was just what I needed. Now to see if I can resize a pic for profile.
Looks great - can't wait to see more!
Yesterday I did the 3rd base colour coat. Here are a few more pics:

Next will be the special 3rd base colour that came with the Wudtone-cherry flamenco kit. Again, the lighting isn't great in my build room and these pics aren't doing any justice to the depth of this finish. I will take pics in natural light after she's complete.
Thanks, Arzi. There will be more to come, I can hardly wait to be able to share more because that'll mean she's that much closer to being played. Lol.
I have a few more pics to share guy's. Here she is after 2 coats of Wudtone extra glossy clear coat:

Now to drilling pilot holes for the screws. There were 63 screws for the tuners, pickguard, control cavity cover and output plate. There will be 8 more for the necks to bolt on:

Next is masking and painting the face of the headstock. Then on to the build. Cheers!
By the way, that Emerald green neck is for my sons FV-1G kit. I've been calling it the flying pickle. heh heh.
Tell you what, keeping this baby in tune is gonna be fun. :P 18 strings....dude. Good progress. Flying pickle is a great name.
Thanks pablo. I'm sure tuning will be a joy. lol!
looking awesome Steve, getting a nice shine and that deep red really pops nicely. I was going to guess the green axe was a FV-1G kit. Look forward to seeing finished pics of that too
Just gear yourself up for the wiring Steve, by the time you finish it looks like a pile of spaghetti and there are so many ways to run the wires with all the pup cavity holes and central channel.
Now I've got so much more wiring experience from when I built mine I might strip the wiring and start again.
Thank's wokka. I found several different wiring diagrams online, one at Pitbull Guitars, one on RAS, one on gear4music, etc.. just need to decide which one to use. They are all a bit different. Any suggestions?
Hey Steve, can you please post the RAS and gear4music diagrams here (if you have already downloaded them) and I'll check them out and compare to the PBG diagram.
Sure wokka. Here ya go.
http://www.rasdistributors.com/instructions
RAS call this model SBD10 double neck.
This is the one for gear4music. There is a pdf file on the page.

Thanks.
Hey Steve, I haven't got time to study the diagrams in detail. The Brooklyn instructions give good pointers where to run wiring but I see the diagram is different to PBG.
Before you attempt any soldering I'd cut all your wires and work out the best route for all the wiring.
I'd probably stick to the PBG wiring diagram.
The RAS diagram looked closer to the PBG diagram but I didn't study it in detail.
Thanks woks, will do.
I'm not sure I'd want to use the RAS diagram, the volume wiring is a little... odd.
Oh yeah wiring these bad boys is so much fun.. Not! Caused more anger and frustration for me than it's worth haha, almost needed therapy after it 😝 and I still have problems with mine! Mainly cause I suck at wiring but anway 😝
I thought so too Scott, the grounding looks odd to me. Thanks.
Thanks for the encouragement Kurt. LOLz! I'm gonna give it a go anyway, being I already bought it and all. I'll definatly be stocking up on aspirin though. (and several cool adult beverages:p)
