Hi Aiden,
I asked the same question to Dingobass (he created Dingotone) and it is currently untested. Maybe get a scrap bit of wood and test it?
Try the Dingotone top coats, they can harden as much as Acrylic can if you let it cure, even though the time to finish will take longer as it is completely natural.
Hi Aidan, best wait for Dingobass to answer this, there might be a clash but not sure as I've never tried this combination.
Most likely DB will just send you to the naughty room for asking the question haha.
As Keloooe suggested maybe apply couple of coats of Dingotone on scrap wood and see how the acrylic clear goes over it
Alright, thank you guys! well, naughty corner for me ;), yeah its just an idea, it doesn't matter if it doesn't work out, and thanks for the suggestion keloooe. the community is great over here! best one yet.
No worries Aidan, hope the build goes well! What are you planning? You should start a build diary under the "My Build Diary" subforum so we can all keep up with the build and provide further help!
no worries Aidan, the forum is here to help out any questions you have.
Nice Angus Young avatar !
As Keloooe suggested start a build diary and ask any questions you have
I will consider that!, i ordered a EX-1 with a bondi blue dingo tone stain, and planing to add a maple headstock veneer!
sounds like a good plan Aidan, look forward to the build diary.
Keep an eye out for the Australia Post van with any luck later this week or early next week
Mate i will!!, i did order it last week and it was posted Wednesday, so tomorrow looks like the day :D
nice one Aidan, hopefully it does turn up Tuesday.
In the meantime look for some scrap wood to apply the bondi blue stain then try spray acrylic over.
When the Australia Post van arrives it feels like Christmas has come early, especially with a first build!
Keen to see an explorer in bondi blue, should be pretty cool!
Looks like the Naughty Room might have to be upgraded to the Naughty Warehouse.... Its getting a bit cramped :)
Haha yeah DB we need more staff at the naughty bar and pizza kitchen too. Shall we paint the naughty warehouse dark green? Haha
Two tone. Blue and green stripes, methinks :)
But we will have to use naughty chemicals DB!
DB if we paint it blue and green stripes it can have a big sign MastersBunnings Naughty Warehouse (MBNW)
DB if we are to move to a new location can it at least have access to the NBN?
Hey Aiden, I would suggest based on my experience with Tru-Oil that it probably isn't such a good idea. Now DB will be the first to say that TO and DT are miles apart (and they are) but I believe DT does have oils in it, and I think this is the reason my acrylic didnt stick properly when I tried this with TO. It may also be that I didnt leave enough tooth for the acrylic to stick to, so maybe it will be OK.
cheers,
Gav.
But as DB said to be it should harden up nicely if you give it plenty of time to cure, like 4 days
