Nice mods man, I'm really digging where you're heading with this, now carry on and be sure to post more pics once you've finished those top contours:-)
Hey Jay, ... those bevels (contours?) look so right its almost as if the ESP was meant to have them ... damn fine design idea (especially if you keep 'em sharp and don't round 'em off)
This is certainly a build that I'm goin' to be keepin' a keen eye on ... what are your plans for this little beaut? (colour?, finish? hardware? other mods?)
Jay, that looks awesome. Like Scott said - like it was meant to be.
Love the mods very metal- I was going to "snakebite"" mine and then chickened out. Keen to see how this progresses.
Thanks dudes, pretty pleased the way it came out. I was thinking about snakebiting it but yeah pretty drastic.
Im a big fan of the solid white explorers so im thinking of doing the body and headstock in white, with the rest of the neck in a semi transparent satin black. Im keeping the standard hardware and pups for now but im upgrading the switch/pots and the nut.
sounds like a great colour combo Jay
Really awesome contours on the top there. That will rock in WHITE.
Looking great Jay. I agree, gloss white will look fantastic. Watching with keen interest!!
cheers,
Gav.
Loving the body mod, adds another dimension to it!
nice one Jay, as everyone else has said nice mods and gloss white will rock This is one of the few kits I haven't built but liking where this is going
I've never been one for the "funkier" shapes (Mr. Boring here) but I gotta say this is looking sweet! Can't wait to see more pics!
Thanks for all the kind comments so far, really appreciate the encouragement.
For todays work while i wait for the paintshop near me to open after holidays, i decided the top edge corner should be slightly less of a radius, so i added a new piece of wood. no one will ever notice except me.

I always love to see someone get creative with the body profiling.
This should be a little beauty when she's done.
Neat! Reminds me quite a bit of my late 90s LTD, my first decent guitar bought new (sorry about the poor pics!):

Neck looking reasonable, Analine dye, still need to apply satin clear over top.

Nice one Jay. You got any coats on the body yet?
nah not yet, ive got a tin of primer ready to go. Found there was a crack in the in the back of the body that kept opening up, ive glued it together hasnt reappeared...yet.
also been trying to figure out what shade of white to use. Needs to be on the 'warm' side think.
Body primed, ready for hours of sanding back and fixing the dents i couldn't see before.

Does anyone know the difference between Fender Olympic white and Arctic white? As in which one is less yellow? I found a huge discussion on the subject but no definitive answer.
Thanks, i thought as much.
I made a new control cavity cover out of 3mm aluminium plate. to be brushed and re-anodized.

nice cover Jay, looks very cool
New bridge

I like the aluminium cavity cover! Looks good. What's the new bridge?
Its a standard Gotoh tuneomatic, in cosmo black. I bought some tuners in the same finish haven't arrived yet.
nice looking bridge/tailpiece Jay, looks chrome in the photo, must be the angle of the photo
Yeah it does, depends on the light. Heres a better angle.

Neck pocket was so tight, could lift up the whole thing by the neck without glue. Good Stuff.
In other news, i bit the bullet on a set of EMG 57/66 in black chrome.
Looking amazing Jay!
cheers,
Gav.
