Damn... that figure on top!!! (and the back for that matter) You just can't beat nature's artwork, stunning!
cheers Barge, I just glued think its red myrtle veneer to the headstock so the colour is deep red with nice dark grain so I'll post some pics later once its shaped and cleaned up
King of the bursts!
Looks friggin awesome!
Sweet grain there Woks
cheers fellas.
Got the veneer glued to the headstock and shaping done. Think its red myrtle but believe it or not this is the colour of it, I haven't stained it. Lost a nick out of the top side near the tuners while I was sanding so I've glued in a small piece and hope it stays there !

looking good Wokka
cheers Tony
Nice kit, nice work.
Can you PM me the deets of where you get your veneers from and their cost? Got something special planned and might go ahead and veneer it ;)
cheers Eshays. I got the veneers from a Tasmanian furniture shop, they were at the Perth woodshow early August but you can order online. I got a mixed bag of veeners about 20 of them all different sizes for $150, very good value

Wow Wokka, that FW looks spectacular on the ash. Looking amazing as usual!
Cheers,
Gav.
How do you go about gluing the veneer at the trussrod end of the headstock with the curve Wokks?
cheers Gav, yeah pretty happy with the results so far. Bit more blending and it should look sweet
Hey Barge, the veneer is only about 1mm thick so it bends quite easily. I clamp a block over the glued veneer and place the block just before the curve so there's enough pressure on the curved part for the glue to work
Beautiful!
Wokka, sorry to derail into more veneer chat, but if the veneer is so thin, how do you prevent it from getting bubbles underneath the surface, especially on curved or large surfaces?
And if something goes wrong, how do you take it off?
Eshays the veneer is thick enough to not have any bubbling issues.
If something goes wrong you have to sand it off and start again
Wokka, FYI. Ihasmario = Chris, Ultpanzi = Eshays. :)
more 4D goodness, lovely job Wokka
@ Pablo thanks for correcting me I always get them mixed up
@ Chris apologies for getting your name wrong
@ Stan, cheers mate
sweet wood grains!
cheers Dale, I'm yet to get an ash kit with little grain figure

nice.. very nice :)
Looks sensational Wokka! I love the black pickguard with these stain colours too. Another fantastic job!
cheers,
Gav.
That looks fantastic Wokka!
Thats a real nice burst Wokka. I take it the dingotone gold and the FW tints blended easily?
That's sensational Wokka.
Nice burst Wokka.
thanks for all the nice comments
@ Dennis yes FW and DT gold blend fine so DB has released another versatile product in his stains
Good to hear Wokka. I'll be trying to blend gold through red into black DT soon enough. Will start a build diary and share the results once I get going.
Looking forward to seeing this tele finished for sure. Some beautiful grain there mate.
Cheers,
Dennis.
Cheers Dennis, I've ordered a gold hardware upgrade and will try the 4 way switch mod
the gold hardware upgrade arrived yesterday so had to check out how it looks. Once all the plastic is removed off pups and pickguard should look sweet. I got a wiring query I'll post on Weirdys tele build page

Lock it up! That's friggin unreal!
That gold hardware looks real good against the tones in the burst. It's hard to predict how something like this will come together when starting out with a clean piece of timber but I reckon you've nailed it here!
Just gorgeous.
cheers fellas, hoping to do a fret level and possibly start assembling tomoz. Bought a multimeter to do some wiring checks for the 4 way switch mod
